Basketball is very important to a group of kids. 

It means their life. The kids would do anything 

to get recruited to play in the pros. They live 

on Coney Island. They go to Lincoln highschool  

which looks like a yellow block.

A boy named Tchaka is a boy who live on a 

quiet, dead end block of a one story brick 

house in a dark colored neighborhood. He was 

very tall and friendly. He is very good at 

basketball and the respects the other team.

Another person named Russel Thomas. He 

trained to play in the Empire State Games 

which is a four day game where the best 

players from teams across New York City play.

A new basketball player is met and his name is 

Corey Johnson. He plays basketball to show 

how he feel. In the All Star basketball camp a 

lot of people have gotten hurt from falling and 

have suffered from dehydration ( not enough 

water)

The three boys Tchaka, Russel, and Corey 

keep playing basketball and college recruiters 

want them to play basketball for them. They 

have to get a score of 700 on a test before 

they can go to a good school.

 They go into a ten million dollar basketball building where every game is 

sold out with a 28,000 crowd. Tchaka begins his senior year of high school . 

Tchaka sits in a very small room listening to the people hoping that his well 

playing will make the decisions toward coaches he can trust with his futures 

and take him away from those he should avoid.

Tchaka can do anything he wants and have a chance to play in his first year, 

but the school has less money, lower test scores, and a low faculty spirit. 

Russell’s recruiter wants him to start over and go to Cal- Irvine where he 

can be whoever he wants to be.

A recruiter named Nick Barnes has a very good trick up his 

sleeve to get Tchaka happy if he picks his college. They only 

have a chance to pick 3 Power Forwards ( Tchaka's Position ).

Russell wants to go to a small school where he can get his degree in nursing 

and never come back to Coney island. He doesn't like it on Coney island and 

he wants to be free and start over.
