Computer Network: A interconnected computing device that can exchange data and share resources with each other. 

A container or box that carries data over a TCP/IP network and internetworks. 

Packet

Local Area Network: A network contained within a small geographic area, usually within the same building. 

Wide Area Network 

A computer network in which the computers connected may be far apart, generally having a radius of half a mile or more. 

Node 

Apiece of equipment, such as a PC or peripheral, attached to a network. 

Media Access Control 

A sublayer of the data link layer (DLL) in the seven- layer OSI network reference model. 

IP Address 

A unique string of characters that identifies each computer using the internet Protocol communicate over a network. 

Bus Topology 

A type of network topology in which all devices in the network are connected by one central RJ-45 network cable or coaxial cable. 

Ring Topology

A specific kind of network setup in which devices are connected in a ring and pass information to or from each other according to their adjacent proximity in the ring structure. 

Network Token 

A special frame that is passed from node to node around a ring network . 

Star Topology

A network topology in which each network component is physically connected to a central node such as a router, hub or switch. 

Tree Topology 

A topology which is having a tree structure in which all the computer are connected like the branches which are connected with the tree. 

Protocol 

A set of rules or procedures for transmitting data between electronic devices, such as computer. 

Peer-Peer Architecture 

A commonly used computer networking architecture in which each workstation or node has the same capabilities and responsibilities. 

Client Server Architecture 

Architecture of a computer network in which many clients (remote Processors) request and receive form a centralized server( host computer)
