A girl named Defne lived in a beautiful village where there was a huge lake with all kinds of trees and colorful flowers and sparkling waters.Defne loved nature very much. That's why she was so happy that she was going to the picnic with her friends and teacher that day. She excitedly went to school and they set out from school together towards the lakeside. On the way, the teacher told them which creatures they would see in the lake ecosystem when they reached the lakeside.

Since the lake is very close to their village, their journey did not take long. When they got there, their joy suddenly turned into sadness. Because that huge lake, whose waters were shining brightly, was starting to dry up. There was very little water left, and most of the fish that lived in it had died. The plants by the lake had dried up and turned yellow. So why did this happen? Defne turned to her friends and said:
-This is very sad. Where did the waters of the lake go?
Her friends were also very upset and were thinking about the reason for this situation.
The teacher answered Defne's question as follows:
-Children, unfortunately, our natural water resources are in danger of being depleted due to unconscious and excessive consumption of our water in our homes, agricultural areas and industry, as well as the effect of climate change. The drying up of this lake is an indication of this.

The feeling of disappointment was obvious in the children’s face because they knew that people were the ones who were damaging the ecosystem. The teacher said them to sit down because she was going to give some pieces of advice about changing this alarming reality. When the children settled down, they were impatiently waiting to know what they could do about this problem.
-Dear pupils, the best thing that you can do about this, is to save water. Firstly, you can turn off the faucet when you wash your face, teeth and hands while the water isn’t needed. Secondly, you must water your plants in the morning, because in the middle of the day, water evaporates more quickly and you waste it for nothing. Furthermore, you can fix that leak that wastes a high amount of water everyday. Each time you use water, you must think of every drop if it is useful or not. Where does that tiny little drop goes and for what? If we all would think that way, we wouldn’t face such a problem. However, wasting water isn’t the only thing that damages our magnificent nature.

- Dear children, what else could damage our beautiful nature?
The students said about high energy consumption and about the pollution produced.
- What we can do to help nature and to stop climate change ?
- We can use renewable energy sources, said one of the students.
-Dear students, can you give some examples of renewable energy sources?

Upon the teacher's question, some of the students talked about the wind and some about the sun. The fact that the students were knowledgeable about this subject made the teacher happy. Teacher:
We need to turn to sustainable energy sources in order to meet the energy needs of future generations and to minimize the damage to the environment. Renewable energy sources also play the most important role in terms of continuity and meeting the needs. Energy is the most important ingredient for the development of a country. Therefore, she gave information to the students about renewable energy sources such as Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Hydraulic (hydroelectric) Energy and Geothermal Energy. Now the students were aware of this.

It was time to return to the village. Everything that was said along the way came to everyone's mind. When Defne came home, she was sitting in a sad state, thinking about her experiences and what her teacher had told her. She told everything to his mother.
