Selim ve Selin ikiz kardeşler 1. sınıfa başlamıştı. Aynı okulda ama farklı sınıflarda okuyorlardı. Okulları "Değerler Eğitimi" ne çok önem veriyordu. Her hafta farklı sınıflar değerler ile ilgili etkinlik hazırlıyordu. Bu haftanın değeri Empatiydi. Tüm 1. sınıflar kendi etkinlik ve materyallerini kendisi hazırlayacaktı. Akşam heyecanla kapıdan girdiler. Yemek yemeden etkinliklerini hazırlamaya başladılar.Selim:" Ben ağaç olacağım, bana tüm arkadaşlarım hayran olacak. Ağaç olmak nasıl bir duyguymuş öğreneceğim." dedi. Selin de " Öyleyse ben de seni rahatsız eden, sana zarar veren çocuk olurum. Böylece birlikte güzel bir ekip oluruz." dedi. İki kardeş hazırlıklarını tamamladı. Sabahın olmasını iple çekiyorlardı.Selim okula gelince hemen bahçede yerini aldı. Öyle güzel bir ağaç oldu ki, arkadaşları onu çok beğendi. Selin ise hemen işe koyuldu. Ağaca tırmanmaya, kostümün parçalarını koparmaya başladı. Her kopan parçada Selim çığlık atıyordu.Sonunda Selim konuşmaya başladı. "Bir dakikalığına ağaç olduğunuzu düşünün, neler hissedersiniz?" dedi.

Selim ve çevresindeki herkes bir an için sustu ve bir ağaç olduklarını düşünmeye başladılar. İçlerinden biri: ''Ağaç olmak çok zor olurdu, herkes dallarımı koparırdı, canım çok acırdı.'' dedi. Bir başka çocuk:'' Çok haklısın, düşünsenize kocaman insanlar üzerime çıkmaya çalışırken gövdeme zarar verip, canımı yakabilirler.'' dedi. Selin söze karıştı: ''Ya gövdenizi sivri aletlerle kazımaya çalışanlara ne demeli.'' O an için kimse konuşmadı, sanki herkes bir anlığına gerçekten bir ağaç olmuş ve bir ağacın başına gelebilecek tüm kötülüklere karşı nasıl savunmasız kaldığını anlamıştı. Sessizliği bozan Selim'' Arkadaşlar Empati; bir kişinin kendisini bir başkasının yerine koyarak düşünmesi, onun neler hissettiğini anlayabilmesidir ve görüyorum ki bizler bu işi çoktan kavramışız.'' dedi.

Selim ve Selin eve dönerken daha büyümüş hissediyorlardı kendilerini. Empati Değerini kazanmanın verdiği o his bambaşkaydı. Selim'in dikkatini tam eve girecekken, ayağı dallara dolanmış bir serçe çekti. Hemen kardeşine dönerek; "Selin, şu serçeyi görüyor musun? Onu hemen kurtarmalıyız." dedi. 

Selin de "Dur korkutmadan yaklaşalım." dedi ve serçeyi o dal parçasından kurtarıp bıraktılar.

Selin "Yazık küçük serçeye, ne kadar korkmuştur kim bilir." dedi. 

Selim  "evet kardeşim, korkmuştur ama onu kurtardık. Artık o da mutludur." dedi. 

İki kardeş serçeyle empati kurmuşlardı.

Selim ve Selin eve anne ve babası ile selamlaşarak girdiler. Anneleri yemek hazırlıyordu masayı hazırlamak Selim'in göreviydi. Ellerini yıkayarak hemen masayı hazırlamaya başladı. Selin ise bahçeye çıkmış çiçekleri sularken bugün başlarından geçenleri bahçede domateslere bakım yapan babasına anlatıyordu." Aferin" dedi Selin'e babası " hayvanlara karşı duyarlı olmanız beni çok mutlu etti. Ayrıca bu hafta evdeki sorumluluklarınızı hiç aksatmadınız, her akşam Selim masayı hazırladı, sende çiçeklerimizin bakımını üstlendin onları suladın. Annen ve ben sorumluluk sahibi çocuklarımız olduğu için çok mutluyuz ve sizinle gurur duyuyoruz."

İki kardeş de anne ve babalarından övgü dolu sözler duydukları için çok mutlu oluyorlar, okulda da kurallara uymaya özen gösteriyorlardı. Çünkü öğretmenleri Atatürk'ün hayatını anlatırken, onun ne kadar çalışkan bir öğrenci olduğunu, sınıfta derslerini dikkatlice dinlediğini, öğretmen soru sorduğunda hemen parmak kaldırdığını, ev ödevlerini günü gününe yaptığını ,"sonra yaparım" deyip oyuna dalmadığını ve bu sayede başarılı olduğunu söylemişti.  Selim başarılı bir bilim insanı, Selin ise hayvanları çok sevdiği için veteriner olmak istiyordu. Bu hayalleri için ise, Atatürk gibi sorumluluk sahibi ve çalışkan olmalıydı.

Efeler/Zübeyde Hanım Anaokulu

Akşam olmuştu, gün boyu çok yorulmuşlardı. Selin ertesi gün için öğretmeninin istediği malzemeleri çantasına yerleştirirken Selim'e "Malzemelerini ne zaman hazırlayacaksın kardeşim? Sonra unutabilirsin" dedi. Selim de "şu oyunum bitsin sonra hazırlarım" dedi. Yaklaşık yarım saat geçtikten sonra anneleri "yatma vakti" diye seslendi ve ikisi de dişlerini fırçalayarak pijamalarını giyerken şakalaşmayı da ihmal etmediler. Anne babalarına ve birbirlerine "iyi geceler" diyerek yatıp uyudular. Ertesi gün aceleyle okula gitmek zorunda kaldılar. Derste öğretmen "istediğim malzemeleri getirdiniz mi çocuklar?" diye sorduğunda Selim çok üzüldü. Selim'in üzgün olduğunu gören öğretmeni "Bu senin görevindi sanırım unuttun, bazen böyle şeyler olabilir. Bu davranışını hoş görüyorum. Hatanı düzelteceğine inanıyorum" dedi. Selim öğretmeninin hoş görülü davranmasına çok sevindi ve teneffüste Selin'e "bir daha görevlerimi unutmayacağım ve öğretmenime karşı mahcup olmayacağım" dedi.

Öğretmeninin hoş görülü yaklaşımı Selim'i çok etkilemişti. Öğretmenine karşı sevgisi, saygısı artmıştı.

Eve geldiğinde anne ve babasına anlattı olanları. Annesi " hoşgörü, her türlü iletişimin olmazsa olmazıdır, huzurlu ve mutlu olmanın da temel şartıdır oğlum, öğretmenin sana o şekilde davranarak aslında sana hayatın boyunca karşındaki insanlara hoşgörülü olmayı öğretmiş" dedi. Selin ve Selim kendilerine bir değer daha kattıkları için çok mutluydular.

Selin sonrasında evinde dinlenirken bir telefon sesi duydu duyduğu annesinin telefon sesiydi. Annesi içeride olduğu için cevap veremedi. Selin kendi kendine  Ben bu telefona annemden habersiz bakamam saygı her şeydir öğrendim bu değeri empatik yaklaşmak doğru olanı annem karıştırsa çok kızardım. İçerden selin selin diye seslendi annesi, başladı Selin anlatmaya gururla mutlulukla. Annesi bu doğru davranışı karşısında Selin'e o çok istediği çikolatayı paylaşmayı teklif etti. Selin anneciğim diye sarıldı sıkı sıkı. Kendimi kutlarım. Ne çok şey öğrendim, çok mutluyum oleyyy! dedi coşkuyla ,keyifle olanları Selim'e anlattı.

Huzurla uykuya dalan Selin rüyasında kendini veteriner hekim olarak gördü. Bir hayvanat bahçesinde çalışıyordu. Hayvanat bahçesine geziye gelen öğrencilere gönüllü olarak yardımcı oldu. Sıklıkla öğrencilere tellere yaklaşmamalarını söylüyordu. Ama öğrenciler Selin'in sözlerini umursamıyordu. Öğrencilerden bir grup maymunlara yiyecek atarken bazıları da vahşi hayvanların bulunduğu tellere yaklaşıyordu. Bir öğrenci açık kalan telden vahşi hayvanların bulunduğu kafese giriverdi. Bütün öğrenciler bağırmaya başladılar. Selin öğrencilerden sakin olmalarını istedi. Derhal görevliye haber verilerek öğrenci kurtarıldı. Bu olay diğer çocuklara da ders oldu. Selin abladan özür dilediler. Selin uykudan uyandığında sorumluluklarımızı yerine getirmenin ne kadar önemli olduğunu anladı. Okula gittiğinde rüyasını arkadaşlarına da anlattı.

 Önceki gün okula hazırlıklı gelmeyen Selim bugün tüm malzemelerini eksiksiz getirmişti. Artık sorumluluklarını aksatmıyordu. Sabah derslerine dikkatle katıldı. Öğretmeninin anlattıklarını ilgiyle dinledi. Zaman çok hızlı geçmiş öğle yemeği vakti gelmişti. Beslenme çantasından yiyeceklerini çıkararak sırasının üstüne özenle hazırladı. O esnada yan sırada oturan Emir telaşla eşyalarını karıştırıyordu.

Selim "ne oldu Emir ne arıyorsun? "dedi. Emir "beslenme çantamı arıyorum bulamadım, ne yapacağım şimdi?" diyerek ağlamaya başladı. Selim "üzülme; gel birlikte arayalım" dedi. İki çocuk sınıftaki tüm sıralara baktılar arkadaşlarına sordular ama bulamadılar.  Emir " serviste kaldı sanırım" dedi. Bunun üzerine Selim, "Annem bugün çantama fazla yiyecek koymuş istersen ikimiz birlikte yiyeceklerimden yiyebiliriz. Seninle paylaşabilirim." dedi. Bunu duyan Emir çok mutlu oldu. İki arkadaş birlikte öğle yemeklerini yediler. Emir Selim'e masasını toplarken yardım etti. Sonra ikisi birlikte yardımlaşmanın verdiği mutlulukla okulun bahçesine çıktılar oyunlar oynadılar.

Onlar oyun oynarken yanlarına Selin geldi. Onlara şöyle dedi: Selim ,Emir bugün 4. teneffüs de değerler eğitiminin önemi ile ilgili bir program yapılacakmış duydunuz mu?

Selim: " Evet duymaz olur muyum , hatta bende programda konuşma yapacağım" dedi.

Program saati geldiğinde öğretmeni Selim'i kürsüye davet etti. Selim arkadaşlarına kendi yaşadıklarını anlatarak; biz çocukların doğuştan getirdiği iyi tarafların değerler eğitimi ile ortaya çıktığını, değerler eğitiminin olumlu yönde kişiliklerimizi geliştirdiğini ve iyi insan olmamıza yardımcı olduğunu söyledi. Bu değerleri okulda ona kazandıran öğretmenlerine teşekkür ederek konuşmasını tamamladı.

Selim and Selin are twin sisters, starting the first grade. They studied at the same school but in different classes. His schools gave great importance to "Values Education". Every week, different classes were preparing activities about values. This week's value was Empathy. All 1st graders would prepare their own activities and materials. In the evening they entered the door excitedly. They started to prepare their activities without eating. Selim: "I will be a tree, all my friends will admire me. I will learn how it feels to be a tree." said. Selin said, "Then I'll be the child who bothers you and hurts you. That's how we become a good team together." said. The two brothers completed their preparations. They were looking forwardto the morning. When Selim came to school, he immediately took his place in the garden. It became such a beautiful tree that his friends liked it very much. Selin immediately got to work. He began to climb the tree, tearing off parts of the costume. Selim was screaming at every broken piece. Finally, Selim started to speak. "Imagine for a minute that you are a tree, howwould you feel?" said.

Selim and everyone around him were silent for a moment and began to think that they were a tree. One of them said: "It would be very difficult to be a tree, everyone would cut my branches, it would hurt a lot." Another boy said: "You are so right, think about it, big people can hurt my body and hurt me when they try to climb on me." Selin interrupted: "What about those who try to scrape your trunk with sharp tools?" No one spoke for the moment, as if for a moment everyone had truly become a tree and understood how vulnerable a tree was to all the evil that could happen to it. Selim, who broke the silence,'' Friends Empathy; It is a person's thinking by putting himself in another's shoes, beingable to understand how he feels, and I see that we havealready grasped this."Selim and Selin felt more grown on their way home. The feeling of gaining the Empathy Value was completely different. Just as he was about to enter the house, Selim's attention was attracted by a sparrow whose foot was tangled in the branches. Turning to his brother immediately; 

"Selin, do you see that sparrow? We have to save it now." said.Selin said, "Let's get closer without scaring." he said, and they rescued the sparrow from that branch and left it.Selin "Pity the little sparrow, who knows how scared she was." said. Selim "yes brother, he was scared, but we saved him. Now he is happy too." said. The two brothers empathized with the sparrow.Selim and Selin entered the house by greeting their parents. Their mother was preparing food, it was Selim's duty to set the table. Washing his hands, he immediately began preparing the table. Selin, on the other hand, was telling her father, who was taking care of the tomatoes in the garden, while watering the flowers that had gone out to the garden. Well done, he said to Selin, her father made me very happy that you are sensitive to animals. In addition, you did not neglect your responsibilities at home this week, Selim prepared the table every evening, you took care of our flowers and watered them. We are very happy and proud of you that your mother and I have responsible children.EMİNE HOCAM SON ÇEVRİLEN

Both brothers were very happy to hear praiseworthy words from their parents, and they were careful to follow the rules at school. Because while his teachers were describing Atatürk's life, he said that he was a hardworking student, that he listened carefully to his lessons in the classroom, that he immediately raised his hand when the teacher asked a question, that he did his homework every day, that he did not go into the game by saying "I will do it later", and that he was successful in this way. Selim is a successful scientist and Selin wanted to be a veterinarian because she loves animals. For these dreams, he should have been responsible and hardworking like Atatürk.

It was evening and they were very tired all day. While Selin was putting the materials her teacher wanted in her bag for the next day, she said to Selim, "When will you prepare your materials, brother? You can forget it later." Selim said, "Let my game be over, then I'll be ready". 

After about half an hour, their mother said "it's time to go to bed" and they both brushed their teeth and put on their pajamas, not neglecting to joke around. they went to sleep saying "good night" to their parents and each other.

 The next day they had to hurry to school. In the lesson, the teacher asked, "Did you bring the materials I wanted, guys?" Selim was very upset when he asked. Seeing that Selim was upset, his teacher said,"This was your duty, I think you forgot, sometimessuch things can happen. I tolerate this behavior.

His teacher's tolerant approach impressed Selim a lot. His love and respect for his teacher increased.When he got home, he told his parents what had happened. His mother said, "Tolerance is a must for all kinds of communication, it is the basic condition of being peaceful and happy, my son, by treating you like that, your teacher actually taught you to be tolerant of people around you throughout your life." Selin and Selim were very happy that they added another value to themselves.

After Selin was resting at her home, she heard a phone call, it was her mother's phone call. He couldn't answer because his mother was inside. Selin herself, I can't answer this phone without my mother knowing, I learned that respect is everything, I learned this value to be empathetic and I would be very angry if my mother confused it. Her mother called out, "Selin, flood." Selin began to tell with pride and happiness. Her mother offered to share the chocolate she wanted so much with Selin in response to this right behavior. Selin hugged me tightly as she was my mother. I congratulate myself. I've learned a lot, I'm very happy! he said enthusiastically, happily told what had happened to Selim.

Falling asleep peacefully, Selin saw herself as a veterinarian in her dream. He worked at a zoo. He voluntarily helped the students who came to the zoo on a trip. He often told students not to get near the wires. But the students didn't care about Selin's words. While a group of students was throwing food at the monkeys, some of them were approaching the wires where the wild animals were located. 

A student entered the cage with wild animals from the wire that remained open. All the students started shouting. Selin asked the students to remain calm. The student was rescued by notifying the officer immediately. This incident became a lesson to other children. They apologized to Selin sister. WhenSelin woke up from her sleep, she realized how important it was to fulfill our responsibilities. When he went to school, he told his dream to his friends.

Selim, who did not come to school prepared the previous day, had brought all his materials in full today. He no longer neglected his responsibilities. He attended morning classes attentively. He listened with interest to what his teacher told him. Time passed so quickly it was time for lunch. She took her food out of her lunch box and carefully prepared it on her desk. Meanwhile, Emir, who was sitting next to him, was frantically going through his things.

 Selim said, "What's wrong, Emir, what are you looking for?" Emir "I'm looking for my lunch box, I couldn't find it, what do I do now?" she started crying.

"Don't be sad, let's search together," said Selim. The two children looked at all the desks in theclassroom, asked their friends, but could not find them. Emir said, "I think he stayed in the service". Then Selim said, My mom put too much food in my bag today, if you want, we can both eat some of my food together. I can share it with you." He said. Hearing this, Emir was very happy. The two friends ate lunch together. Emir helped Selim while clearing his desk. Then they both went out to the garden of the school with the happiness of helping each other and played games.

While they were playing, Selin came to them. He said to them: Selim, Emir, have you heard that a program about the importance of values education will be held at the 4th recess today?

Selim told his friends about his experiences; He said that the good sides that we children are born with emerge with values education, that values education improves our personalities in a positive way and helps us to be good people. He finished his speech by thanking his teachers who brought these values to him at school.
