Operation Barbarossa- code name for the German invasion of the Soviet Union. German troops failed, causing a turning point in the war.

Battle of El Alamein- Marked the beginning of the end of the axis in North Africa

Island Hopping- The U.S. Military trying to secure as many small islands as they could
Battle of Midway- Japan wanted to remove the U.S. as a Pacific Power so they could get more land
Manhattan Project- Code name for the American effort to create an atomic weapon in WWII

Pearl Harbor- Surprise attack by Japan. Hurt the U.S. Pacific Fleet badly
Battle of Coral Sea- A Japanese invasion force that gets control of Tulagi of the Solomon Islands
Battle of Guadalcanal- A six month battle that helped defeat Japan
