Machu Pichu
Machu Picchu was built in 146 AD, but 100 years later, it was abandoned by Inca leaders. Legendary stories show that the place was neglected for a long time. But in 1911, the American historian Hiram Bingham brought it back to the public eye, and from then until today the world has not lost its interest. Most recent archaeologists (2021) believe that Machu Picchu was constructed as an estate for the Inca Emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). The site became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and is built in a typical Inca style with glass walls. The most famous buildings are the temple of the sun and the room of the three windows.
