How can social media affect my child's behavior?

        Technology and social media is everywhere today but is it healthy for children to be exposed to it as well? What most people don't understand is that the internet and the use of social media can have very many cons and downsides to it. Social media manipulates (uses) and profits off of its users by not only spreading fake but entertaining news but also by making sure it continues to show you things that interest you so that you won't get off of it.  The big question is how does this affect young children that are being exposed to it. If teenagers and adults can get severe anxiety, low self esteem, and depression from social media, just imagine how a child’s brain would react being exposed to it. Research studies have shown that social media can make children behave more violent and aggressive as well.

        Parents are so quick to give their child an ipad or a phone at a young age without considering the possible risks they are putting their child in. Exposure to social media at a young age is unfortunately, something people don't talk about as often as people expose their children to it. We have to bring this issue into the light so that we can know and understand how social media can have bad effects on children. Too much time on social media can lead to bullying, depression, and anxiety. Spending more than four hours a day online significantly increases a child's risk of becoming hyperactive and inattentive, and decreases feelings of self-worth. Social media may be one of the main factors affecting children's mental health.
