Once upon a time...
Many years ago...
Cronus became the supreme ruler of the universe.
He married Rhea who gave birth to six children!

The Great Gods!
Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus.

However, Cronus’s greatest fear was that one day one of his children
would take his throne, as he was told once by his father Uranus.

To prevent the reoccurrence of his father’s fate, he was determined to
kill all his children one by one as soon as they were born.

Whenever his wife, Rhea, was having a newborn, Cronus would grab
it and then swallow it.

But Rhea was very unhappy!
So, when she was pregnant with Zeus, to save him from
his father, went to the island of Crete, and secretly gave
birth to the new baby.

But Rhea was very unhappy!
So, when she was pregnant with Zeus, to save him from his father,
went to the island of Crete, and secretly gave birth to the new baby.

Then, she entrusted the Nymphs who were responsible to take good
care of him and raise him.
This way Cronus was tricked!

Rhea quickly replaced the baby’s body with a stone wrapped in
swaddling clothes and said:
"Look, this is our last child!"

Cronus swallowed the stone at once without hesitation.

Zeus was raised with love and
affection by the Nymphs and
became great and strong.
When he grew up, he decided to
confront his father.

Metis, the daughter of Ocean, helped Zeus and gave him a potion to
cause Cronus to vomit the stone and his siblings…

And, like a miracle, Cronus’s sons and daughters were still alive!

Hera came back to life and went to Evia,
where she was raised by the nymph Macris.

Then Zeus fought with his father,
overthrew him and finally managed
to take control of the universe.
Ever since, Zeus became the
undisputed king of the Gods and
lived in the highest mountain in the
heart of Greece, Mount Olympus.

The night in Mount Olympus
Zeus was the greatest of all Gods! He was powerful and wise!
He was the one who would arrange people’s lives, whenever they
needed help, but also would punish them for their mistakes.
He used his mighty weapons that the
Cyclopes gave him: the Thunder, the
Lightning and the Thunderbolt.
The symbols of his power were the
Victory, the Eagle, the Thunderbolt and
the Scepter.
Besides being powerful and intelligent,
he had his weaknesses too. His greatest
weakness was that he would often fall in
love with other women!

One day as he was wandering in the mountains he met Hera in the
southern highlands of the island Evia, Mount Ochi!

Hera was very beautiful!
Zeus fell in love with her
immediately and set out to
conquer her!

However, Hera was aware of his weakness to fall in love to other
women and did not trust him, as she was very jealous.

As he saw that she was stern and serious...
He had an ingenious thought!
