There is an island so far from Europe that it may take us a week or two to get there by boat. it is so small we can't see it on the map of the world. Even satellites can't spot it from space. That's why we don't know its name.

But there lives a bird... So special...

The one we thought no longer existed. 

Have you ever heard of the DODO - the bird?

Here is his story...He exists on his lonely island in the middle of nowhere. In the middle of the oceans.  

Dodo lives there so happy with his friends- a monkey, a crab, a starfish, and a dolphin. 

The island is so beautiful that Dodo watches nature every day and feels grateful to live there. There he finds food - bananas and coconuts. His friends also find food there. 

Starfish and dolphin find their food in the ocean. The water is so clear that they dive in the waves every day. 

They live happily on the small isand.

The dolphin has a chance to swim in the big ocean and to see amazing things and creatures. 

Every time he returns from his adventures, he tells great stories to others. They were so amazing that his friends want to hear them over and over again. 

Dodo was so excited that he was pleased that the dolphin will help him to see all the amazing places.

Dodo can't swim, so he has to ride the dolphin across the ocean.  

So the dolphin swam day and night, day and night...

And Dodo rode him day and night, day and night...

You should remember that Dodo's island is far, far away.

One day our two friends reached the shore. It was a big city - a metropolis. 

There were so many tall buildings, bright lights and so many cars. 

It was so nosy! Dodo was shocked! 

He thought it wasn't a wonderful place. It was just a nightmare.

He didn't like it!

The dolphin had friends to visit and Dodo was left alone in this big city. 

He walked here and there and looked around, but nothing was as beautiful and peaceful as his island.

He decided to look around, even though he didn't like the place. 

All the people were so busy, the cars were fast, the smell was awful and it was hard even to breathe. 

He wondered: "What can I do here?"

He walked around the city, crossing streets with traffic. Suddenly he saw something - a huge building with so many cells. 

He wondered: "What should this be?"- and went inside.

He was shocked - so many animals in cages. Different animals. He didn't know what kind they were.

This animal was so big, so tall, and Dodo was excited to know what kind of animal it was. He noticed other things that the animal had - two big ears and a trunk two meters long. With its trunk, this animal smelled, drank, and also grabbed fruits for food. 

Dodo noticed a label and it said: "ELEPHANT".

The elephant remained so lonely there in the cage. 

He was alone and people came to watch him. 

Dodo didn't like that!

Then Dodo moved in front of the other cage and saw much colorful fish swimming around. But they were not in the ocean. They were swimming in a glass box - an aquarium. People watched them and smiled. 

The same situation was with the elephant.

Dodo realized that people were watching him, too. 

He was an interesting animal to them. And it was true -people had never seen an animal like him before. 

They tried to catch him and release him to the ZOO. Like the other animals, but Dodo ran away...

Dodo went to the shore and tried to find the dolphin, but he was gone. He was looking at the ocean...

Looking for someone to help him. Dodo was so sad. He didn't like the adventure. 

The city was so polluted, and noisy, and there were no trees or grass.

There were empty bottles and plastic bags on the beach.

Meanwhile, his friends were wondering if everything was ok. Was Dodo doing well?

And they decided to travel to this land, which was far, far away from the beautiful island. 

They took a small ship (almost a big boat) and sailed across the ocean in search of Dodo.

After a long journey across the ocean, they reached the land. It was so big, almost huge, and so bright that they were amazed. Excited, they started looking for Dodo in the big city. 

They noticed the same thing as Dodo- it was noisy, dirty- they could see the garbage everywhere. And as we know it is not good for animals and nature at all.

After a day and night of searching for Dodo, they found him near shore. He was looking at the ocean and actually thinking about them. They missed him so much!

Suddenly Dodo spotted them and started to care to show them where he was. They spotted him and sailed close to shore. 

Then finally they boarded him.
