What Is A Concussion?
A brain injury is caused by a violent shaking of the head. A concussion occurs when either a direct impact or whiplash effect causes the brain to move inside the head and bump against the skull. As a result, neurons are damaged and the brain may bruise at the site of impact.

What Are The Symptoms Of A Concussion?
The main symptoms of a concussion are headache, blackout, poor balance, amnesia, mental confusion, sleep disturbances or sleepiness, nausea or vomiting and it is also common: irritability, mild depression, ringing in the ears, or sensitivity to light. The symptoms of a concussion have a longer lasting time of occurrence, if not treated with the proper treatment. Leading to major damage to the brain.

What Is CTE?
CTE stands for Chronic traumatic encephalopathy. CTE is a progressive brain condition that's thought to be caused by repeated blows to the head and repeated episodes of concussion. It's particularly associated with contact sports, such as boxing or American football. Most of the available studies are based on ex-athletes.

How Is CTE Affecting Athletes?
Concussions frequently affect athletes in both contact and non-contact sports and are considered to be diffuse brain injuries that traumatically induce alterations of mental status. It's particularly associated with contact sports, such as boxing or American football. Sports are the most common reason for athletes to be affected by CTE. Most of the available studies are based on ex-athletes who also had CTE.
