The base line of "DUTY" is the legacy ofhis father, and what he never talked about
to his son or any one of that matter and i will
be covering 3 key points to this story speech,
thoughts and actions

His father has bad news to tell his son thathe has a few weeks to live. His dad says "you've never seen
your old man like this have you?". He reply's, with dad you
were never around much when I was growing up. His father is
in pain because he has been diagnosed with cancer. so live life
to your full potential.

When he is in the coffee shop with Tibbit's,he says "I liked what you said about the
WWII generation not going around bragging
about them selves". And Tibbit's is one of the
many men that were in the war with his father
that dropped the divaistating atom bomb on
japan.

He keeps on talking to Tibbit's about his experiencesin the war. A few days later he finds him self lying to
his family and loved ones about meeting Tibbit's behind their
backs Tibbit's says to him that you can't tell your mother what we
have been talking about if she ask. He says "I wouldn't talk to
her about what I was doing".

He is sneaking behind his mother and fathersback to find out different sides of the first hand
experiences in the war by talking to Tibbit's
and Tibbit's ask him "would it bother you?"
and he reply's, with "I said it wouldn't bother me.

His father does not find out about his son talkingto Tibbit's until he ask his dad about Tibbit's
his dad says "you don't know" and his son says
"I don't know!" and when his father gets aggravated
and a little mad he says "what do you think". His
father thinks Tibbit's is a bad man.

In the end of this book his father gets a little more understanding and resonable about
the situation that has been going on with
his son sneaking around his back and he
brings three of his last remaining war friends
to his fathers house and he says "these three
men saved my life".
