I just thought of the perfect tale for the fairytale / story contest. A story of clashing energies, the story of two linked souls, a story about unity despite the dificulties of life... A story no other children's book author has ever thought of writing for kids. That's what this is all about, after all!: Kids writing books for kids!

Call me a coward all you want for not submitting anything earlier or in the previous contests...

But today, I've decided to mix all of these previous ideas together, and here's the first draft of my entry..

I call it, "Opposites Attack", or maybe "The Yin Yang Theory"? "Now or Never"? I know! What about...

THE DAY LIFE

   MET DEATH

Once upon a time, existed the universe.

The universe lasted a long time.

But we're not here to tell the story about how it ended forever (or how will it end for us).

We're here to tell the story of two spirits who had nothing in common at all.

These guys were Life and Death.

One represented everything that is active in our universe, and the other one represented the perishing of said activeness.

Said spirits never thought of what would happen if they ever met each other in person.

Death had seen life a few times, lurking in the shadows.

And Life had sometimes noticed him in the corner of its eye.

And that's where this story begins...

When Life met Death, Life was trembling in fear upon Death's presence. Life decided to keep a straight face, but it knew what Death was capable of.

Death was said to always have a trick up it's sleeve, ready to turn the tables at any situation. It had infinite control over darkness and could kill anyone or anything it wanted. Death was said to be merciless and cruel no matter how kind someone may be to him.

As soon as they got closer, everything around Life withered, as Life felt a shiver down its spine. Death, on the other hand, seemed to not care about everything around him at all. Silently, they got even closer, and suddenly, a couple flowers sprouted on Death's side. Startled by the sudden appearence of flora on his side, his jet black eyes landed on Life's eyes, staring deep into it's soul (metaphorically, both of them were spirits, after all).

Death's eyes pierced deep into Life's as if it were to steal its soul. However, Life was full of vital energy, therefore it was impossible to do said thing.

Death, after staying silent the whole day, yelled at Life: "How dare you spread into my territory?!?". Life then answered: "Me?!? You spreaded in first, and you constantly do so everyday anyways!".

Death was shocked on the inside (in the outside he just stared angrily at Life), he couldn't believe a being with a will strong enough to contradict his even existed.

He began to pull shadows in, then trapping Life within them. "You'll now experience what happens to those who dare oppose me, as you can't be killed, you shall be tortured by my merciless anger. These shadows will not stop consuming you until your vitality is somehow extinguished.", stated Death.

Life then said: "You won't get away with this! I know what your plan is, to take over my territory after life is extinguished forever!". 

Death kept a straight face as Life protested, and when he got slightly fed up, it said: "And how do you even plan to get out, Life? Blame yourself for this, you were the one who got itself into trouble by opposing me." 

Life said: "Don't you see? You're doing this to me now, but all these milleniums you've only spyed on me a few times, but you never actually stood up to me! As much as you don't want to believe it, YOU are the real coward here who should probably blame itself for getting in an awkward situation!"

Death shedded a tear as Life said that last sentence. Its cover had been blown by the same person who was previously trembling upon it.

He just couldn't believe it.
