Blackbeard had the typical everyday 

appearance of a pirate except his massive 

black beard. But Blackbeard was not the 

typical pirate actually far from it. Blackbeard 

loaded himself with weapons. He wore multiple 

swords, knives, and then olden day pistols. He 

even became known for weaving hemp in to 

and lighting matches tied to his long beard 

during battle. Blackbeard was known for his 

choice of appearance.

Probably no pirate loved the weapons more 

than Blackbeard. When he was in battle, he 

would carry three pairs of cocked-and-primed 

pistols strapped across his chest and more at 

his sides. As for Blackbeard, one blade was not 

enough. Several other swords, daggers, and 

etc. would be fastened in convenient places on 

the body. The king of pirates was known not 

only for his skill with the cutlass. But the style 

he would use, he would swing his blade back 

and forth across the body in a windmill fashion. 

Blackbeard was extremely talented with 

weapons.

The Queen Anne's Revenge was a massive 

pirate ship commanded by Blackbeard in 1717-

18. It was one of the most formidable pirate 

ships ever, carrying 40 cannons and enough 

room for plenty of men and loot. It sank in 

1718, and many believe that Blackbeard 

scuttled it on purpose. The wreck has been 

found and has turned up a treasure trove of 

pirate artifacts. I believe Blackbeard purposely 

sunk his ship.
