1.Tape Measure/yardstick

2.9-2 Pieces of heavy duty tape

3.Kite string

4.Scissors

5.Large trash bag

6.Heavy duty string

7.marker/pencil either one would be fine

8.1-1ft 8.in dowel rod

9.2-10 in dowel rods

10.1-2 in. piece of plastic tubing

  Using your tape measure take your 1 ft. 8 in. dowel 

rod, measure down from the top 4 inches and make a 

mark. Put your piece of plastic tubing on the mark and 

secure it with your heavy duty string.   Once you have 

the tubing secured with the string place your 2- 10 in. 

dowel rods into the tubing.   Next place a piece of tape 

over the tubing and dowel rod to secure it in place.  

     Place your cross shaped dowel rods on top of your 

trash bag.   Using a yard stick and a marker draw lines 

to connect the corners ending in a diamond shape.  

Cut out the kite shape.   Decorate at this time if you 

would like to.  

    Lay the sticks onto the plastic and make a dot 2 

inches down from the top.   Measure down 11 and 1/2 

inches and make another dot.   Poke small hole into 

plastic on the dots.    

   Secure the sticks to the plastic with 4 heavy duty 

pieces of tape on each end of the sticks.   Take a 24 

inch piece of kite string and put it through the holes 

and tie it to the dowel rods.    Cut 2- 5 ft. long strips of 

plastic that are about 1 inch wide to make tails.  

Secure the tails with tape at the bottom of the kite.   Tie 

a tube of kite string to the front of the kite and you are 

ready to fly.

This book is about how we made and built a kite.  

We used our strength and our minds to make this 

wonderful little kite. We thank you so much for
