Chapter One:
What is Animal Euthanasia?
You might not realize how animals are being treated. They're being left on the street unwanted, being traumatized because of their owners. But the worst is euthanasia. Euthanasia is what grown-ups like to call "being put to sleep." It means that they're getting a shot that is going to put the animal into an eternal sleep from which they will never wake up which means they die. This is a very sad occurrence for most animals. Most of the time when animal shelters put animals to sleep it is because if no one adopts them when more animals come in then they have no room for old animals, and some have to go.
In some instances, it's okay for animals to be euthanized because in some situations, such as when an animal paralyzed, they may never get better. In those cases, their quality of life is so low that euthanasia is the better option.
In those instances when it is not okay to euthanize an animal is when it happens because they have no space in the shelter. This happens mostly to dogs and cats.
What you can do to Prevent Euthanasia
1. Adopt more animals.
2. Spay and neuter your pets.
3. Advocate for fairer laws for animals.

Chapter Two:
What is Animal Testing?
Some people test products on animals that can be highly dangerous to them. People do that to animals because they don't want to test it on humans because they could potentially die. Some examples of products that may be tested on animals are makeup, medicine, vaccines, and others.

The Humane Society saved over 2,000 animals from testing. “All procedures, even those classified as “mild,” have the potential to cause the animals physical as well as psychological distress and suffering,” says the Humane Animal Society. There are many animals that are used for testing. Some are baboons, cats, cows, dogs, ferrets, fish, frogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, horses, llamas, mice, monkeys (primates), owls, pigs, quail, rabbits, rats and sheep. Inside Biosearch, one of the animal testing companies, their animals have a lack of food, water, and no vets to take care of them.

Chapter Three:
What's it like Inside the
Monkey Lab?
Inside the monkey lab BPRC (Biomedical Primate Research Center),
10% of the 1,600 primates are used in testing each year. But in the whole world, 125,000 primates are used for testing every year. They choose to test on primates because 93% of human DNA is shared with primates and so they think the results would be similar for humans.
The procedure is not as painful as it seems because the monkeys are sedated throughout. First, they have to test their cortisol (stress) level. They do that because they need to make sure the animals are not stressed out so they can cooperate better for the procedure. Next, they
tattoo the animals to know who they are. Then they are tested to see if they are ready to test products. This is because they need to be the right weight, height and age. If they don't meet the right standards, they will have to wait another year or so to be tested. If they meet the standards, they are ready to be tested. After all of that, they are injected with the various diseases such as malaria, HIV / AIDS, Dengue Fever and many other horrible diseases. Lastly, they give the monkey the future vaccine and/or medical treatment to see if they have cured the disease.
If the experiment has failed the monkey will be euthanized because if not, they would be in solitary confinement (to keep the other monkeys from getting sick) which would be terrible for the animal's mental health, and they would still be sick. After they're euthanized, their organs will be extracted from their body and studied to see what has failed.
