When   the Nazis invaded Poland, I was 

scared. They killed lots and lots of innocent 

people.

I was forced out of my home into a smaller 

apartment with my mother and sister, no 

one knew where my father was. 

The Nazis barged in one morning and 

everyone fled to hide. My mother and 

sister were found along with the rest. I 

was the only one that remained.

I fled to a shed into the town of Kovno. 

When I walked in the shed I brushed 

dead leaves away from under my feet and 

then I saw a trapdoor in the floor. I 

opened it and I started climbing down a 

ladder.

When I got down to the bottom there 

was a long dark hallway so I started 

down it. There several closed doors on 

the way to the end of the hall, but at the 

end there was a door that I heard voices 

behind. I knocked on the door and a girl 

teen answered the door and welcomed me, 

"Come in," in a very calm and sweet voice.

When I walked in I saw everyone sitting on 

couches and tables. The girl teen that greeted 

me introduced me to everyone, "My name is Sara, 

his," she was pointing to a little boy, "is Bobby, 

the one next to him is Chaunce, he is very shy, and 

hers is, "pointing at a girl about Sara's age, "BD, 

What's yours?"

"Jimolioth, but you can call me Jim."

After I got settled in and said hi to everyone Sara 

and I were talking.

"Why are they doing this, the Nazis?" I asked 

quietly, surprised that she heard me.

She replied, "The Nazis have to blame someone for 

Germany's loss in World War l, and we are easy to 

blame."

"But why us, Sara?"

"We are much more powerful." she replied blankly.
