My Not So Ordinary Day!

It was the best day of my life! I was up in my attic which is dark, 

cobwebby and rat infested   working on my time machine that I had 

been working on for the past 3 years when I fastened the LAST 

screw. I was so excited because every single night when I came 

home from school I worked on my time machine and it took 3 years!

By the way my name is Sheila. I am 11 years old and I have long, 

wavy and red hair. I am average height and weight. I have bright 

blue eyes and a really big smile. My nose and ears are pretty small 

compared to my body. I have earrings and my skin is really pale 

because I rarely go outside because I am always up in my shop in 

the attic and it’s really dark upstairs. My favourite colour is blue but 

today I am wearing blue jeans and a lime green t-shirt with purple 

polka dots. I am wearing my lucky blue running shoes.  

I ran downstairs as fast as I could and told them that I finished it. My 

mom and dad were not amused and didn’t think it was that cool. Since 

I was a kid I have been inventing things. From a singing toilet to a 

flying toaster, but my parents have not been very supportive. 

I went back upstairs and my mom said “30 minutes until supper” so I 

decided I would experiment a little bit with my time machine and 

maybe even try it out. When I was building my time machine I 

decided I would add a dial that takes me to different places and there 

was another dial to decide how far to go back to. On the switch that 

said the different times, one was the time of the dinosaurs, another 

one was to candy land, one was to travel to Christopher Colombus 

time and the last one was to travel to space .

I decided that for the first time I would go back to the time of the 

dinosaurs. I turned the dial and stood in my time machine. I 

decided that I would bring my toolbox just incase anything goes 

wrong and I have to repair it. I pressed the start button and then 

all of the sudden everything around me went swirly. I WAS 

FLOATING THROUGH TIME!

I was excited and scared at the same time. Everything around me 

was swirly and blue and it seemed like I was in there forever. I 

actually saw a couple weird things floating around with me, a cow, 

two rats and a fish. I guess that’s   what happens when time 

machines don’t work out.

After what seemed like forever it looked like I was getting really 

close to actually getting to the end of the time tunnel. Nothing was 

really changing that much and I was getting a little scared that I 

might have messed up and be stuck in time forever but then all of 

the sudden everything went black and I didn’t know what was 

happening. 

 I opened my eyes and stood up and looked around. Everything 

looked so different and old. All the sudden I heard a noise that 

seemed like it was coming from behind me so I quickly looked 

behind me. There was a T-Rex chasing me at full speed. I was so 

scared and I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to stay with my 

time machine and get     stepped on or chewed up but I also didn’t 

want to run and get   machine broken and stepped on.

I decided to run because at least I have a chance to live if I run. I 

started sprinting but I rarely go outside so my sprint is more like a 

jog or walk. I was running and I was getting extremely tired. I saw 

what looked like a cave. It was a big rock the size of a miniature 

mountain and it had a huge dent in it. I ran into the cave and went 

as far back as I could in it and conveniently it went off to one side.
