One beautiful sunny day 

a little girl name Annie 

decided she wanted to 

have a picnic all by 

herself, so she packed 

her a picnic basket and 

started to the door. 

As Annie made her 

way down the stairs, 

she wasn't paying 

attention to what she 

was doing. Then 

suddenly the picnic 

basket slipped out 

from under her hand 

and all of her food 

and her drink landed 

on the floor. Annie 

was so sad she 

thought her picnic 

day was ruined.

Annie's dad was standing in 

the hall when she dropped all 

of her food and when Annie 

started crying. He felt horrible 

seeing her cry, so he quickly 

went into the kitchen and fixed 

her a new picnic basket for 

Annie so she could go to the 

park and have a picnic just like 

she wanted. He quickly kissed 

her on her forehead and told 

her to have a great time and to 

be back by dark. 

As Annie made her way to the park she noticed that it was a 

long distance for just walking.Annie was so anxious to get to 

the park she started to run so she could get to the faster.

As soon as Annie got to the park she took out her food and set everything 

very neatly on her plate. She quickly noticed a beautiful butterfly right 

beside her flying crazily in circles. She was amazed at the butterflies 

beauty that she over looked how strange the butterfly was flying in circles. 

She quickly noticed how the butterfly was 

flying, then she realized that the butterfly was 

lost "OH NO! the poor butterfly is lost what do 

I do?" she sadly thought to herself. Annie was 

amazed at when she heard the sad butterfly say 

"my family left me because I'm so much 

smaller than them." Annie felt sad, she didn't 

know what to do. Annie wanted to help the sad 

butterfly so bad but she didn't know how.

Then she got a great idea. She asked the butterfly "sense they wont let 

you back in there family, how about you join my family?" The 

butterfly looked shocked and quickly asked "why would you want me 

in your family, I'm worthless" Annie looked at the little butterfly like 

he was crazy then she says "oh my, why would you think that, you're 

perfect and i think my daddy would thinks so too. Annie quickly 

packed her things and told the small butterfly to follow her home.

As they walked to Annie's house, Annie says "well, i have a feeling that 

you're going to be with us for a long time so we might as well get to know 

each other, so little butterfly what is your name?" "Well Annie I don't 

really have a name." Annie is shocked, "oh okay then I guess we should 

give you a name, how about Bennie, Bennie the butterfly?'', '' It's 

perfect!" Bennie says.

Annie realizes that it is getting dark and she isn't at home 

yet. Annie is scared that she wont be back home in time. 

Annie just knows that her dad will be mad. So Annie and 

Bennie rush to get home, before Annie's dad gets home.
