Welcome to the beach,class.

Today, Miss Vickies
brought her students to
the beach to learn about
waffles. She told her
students to stay away
from the water.

Oh, no!

Unfortunately, little
Otatop did not
listen.

Otatop sank deep,
deep into the ocean...

What do I do now?

Until he reached the
ocean floor.

All of a sudden,
Otatop saw
something.

How goes it,little dude?

It was Doritos, the
seaweed!

Doritos the seaweed chose to
float around while his friends
used their "holdfasts" to stay in
one place. He has floatation
devices that help him float called
the kelp and the air bladder.
Seaweed can withstand salinity,
changing temperature, and
depth.

Just go with the flow, little dude.

Otatop asked Doritos
how he could get out of
the ocean. Doritos was
washed away after
answering.

Obviously, Otatop
couldn't do that, so he
waited...

And waited...

All of a sudden, Otatop
saw something from
the corner of his eyes.

It was the dolphins:
Ruffles and his gang.

As a pod, they
surrounded Otatop and
stared at him.

"How did you see me?" Otatop asked. "I
thought I was camouflaged into the
sand."
"We know EVERYTHING! We have the
knowledge of the universe!", one dolphin
answered.
"But we knew that you were here because
we have an adaptation in our heads called
a melon. It lets us use echolocation and
senses for prey, among other things,"
Ruffles answered.

"When we find a school of fish, we herd
them upwards and into a giant ball. Then
we each take turns swimming through
and eating while the others make sure it's
as tightly packed as possible," Ruffles
explained.
Otatap was confused. Why were they
telling him this?
"You don't get it," Ruffles clicked, reading
the narration line from above.

"You wouldn't understand with that puny
potato brain of yours, but somewhere in
another universe, two human's science
marks depend on us telling you this. Now be
quiet and listen."
Ototap went silent.
"Sometimes, we herd the school of fish near
a shore instead, where they're trapped
between it and us. Then, we go ahead and
eat."

"A lot of the times, we develop our own
strategies depending on the geography.
Like: my cousin over at Flordia hunts with
his pod in shallow water using the mud
there. They swim around a school of fish,
beating their tails to make a mud ring.
The fish will panic and jump out, landing
into the dolphins' mouths," Ruffles
whistled.
"But if your strategies are so awesome,
why doesn't every fish use it?" Otatop
asked.

"That's because they don't have the same
anatomy and adaptations like we do.
Other than the fact that they obviously
don't have melons and don't have
echolocation powers, we also have super
streamlines bodies to reduce water
resistance," another dolphin squeaked.
"Yeah, and another way we reduce water
resistance is our blubber, which makes
our skin smoother and creates less
friction," the fourth dolphin added.

"Okay. Now that we're done talking,
let's chow down!" Ruffles
commanded as the dolphins started
closing in.
Otatop tried to swim away, but the
density of his potato body didn't
allow it.

We'll save you!

Out of no where,
Cheetos the piranha and
his friends came to
Otatop's rescue.

We only saved you sowe could eat you ourselves.

Cheetos wanted to eat
Otatop for lunch.

You don't haveany legs!

Suddenly, Cheetos wanted to boast about
his species' hunting strategies. "We hunt
in really large groups," he began, "of 20
or sometimes more. We're relatively small
in size compared to Ruffle's gang but
pretty big compared to the anglerfish. We
have razor sharp teeth, able to bend a
steel fishing hook, to take bites out of our
prey."
Otatop was very confused. Especially on
how Cheetos was talking, carrying him,
and swimming at the same time.

You don't haveany legs!

"We are adapted to have lots of
different fins to dart forwards and
ambush our prey, which is one of our
hunting strategies. We also have a
special adaptation of a blood-sensing
system to detect weak prey we can
attack. Another hunting strategy we
have is suddenly going after a school
of fish to scatter them, then singling
out individual ones. "

You don't haveany legs!

Just as the Piranhas finished
explaining and was ready to eat
Otatop, they noticed something.
"Hey, you're not made of meat!",
they cried, "We have no use for you
now."
So they abandoned Otatop and
swam away.

We don't want you anymore.

Once again, Otatop was
left falling.

Wow, it's dark.
It soon got darker as he
fell deeper in the ocean.

What is that pretty light?

Otatop was mesmerized
by the light.

Little did Otatop know,
the light belonged to
Pringles, the angler fish.

!
"Wait... What are
you?", Pringles
growled when he
saw Otatop.

Suddenly, Pringles had a strong urge to tell
Otatop all of his hunting secrets.
"Us, anglerfish, hunt by attracting prey with our
light. It's the bioluminescent bacteria living inside
us that creates the glow. Since we don't need to
chase after our prey, we can only swim at low
speeds, especially compared to dolphins and
piranhas." He started rambling. "We're really
awesome, because unlike dolphins and piranhas,
who hunt in a group, we only depend on ourselves
or a mate to hunt."

. . .

Otatop just stared.
"Since we glow blue to attract prey,
we have specially adapted skin that
reflects blue light. Also, unlike
dolphins and piranhas, we can't see
what's being lured to us. A lot of
times, what comes over is bigger than
us, so we have have adapted jaws and
stomachs that are expandable to eat
things up to twice our size!"

"Okay, enough yammering,"
Pringles snapped his razor sharp
teeth (great for biting prey!). He
started swimming towards Otatop.
All of a sudden, Otatop was saved
yet again! The figure carried him up
to slightly safer waters then set him
down.

It was Tostitos, the seal!

Brrr.. It's coldhere.

They had arrived at a spot where
no sunlight reached them.
Tostitos told Otatop that he
wasn't cold because he was
warm-blooded.

If you're warm-bloodedthen why
aren't you cold?

Apparently, Tostitos'
body temperature stays
constant all the time and
he has blubber to keep
him warm.

Come with me!
Tostitos told Otatop that
his mistress wanted to
see him.
