Chapter 1

" Hey, Kylie!" said James, smiling as he slammed her door for her.

" Hey, James! What are you doing here?" Kylie asked, a smile lighting her face up.

" I found us an adventure," James announced. Kylie had always dreamed of this moment. She and James had been friends for a few weeks now, and she was really looking forward to doing something with him, even if it was watching a movie or going to the park and having a picnic. She looked back to the time when she and James had met.

James had been chatting with Eric, the hottest boy in school. Eric was the boss of " THE GANG," and James just tagged along. Kylie never knew who James was until Eric walked up to her.

" What's your name?" he had asked her. Kylie had nearly fainted when

he had walked up to her. Her jaw had dropped, but Jemma had put a hand on her shoulder. Her black hair was curly in a ponytail and brushed against Kylie's shoulder as she had put her hand on it. Breeann also had supported me, and whispered in my ear, " You're a lucky one. I've had a crush on him for years." Eric smiled a smile that had made my heart melt.

" Hey, are you Kylie? Wanna sit with us at lunch?" he asked, smiling.

" Sure. Can they sit with me too?" I said, my tongue as dry as sandpaper.

" Yeah. Let's do it," he had said. Then, as Eric and the crew walked away, Jemma and Breeann went crazy.

" Eric invited you and us to lunch?"

" He is so cute."

" Breeann, he likes Kylie. It's obvious.

" Guys! Chill. It's only sitting at their table."

Then, Kylie, Breeann, and Jemma had walked over to their table with their pancakes. Jemma had kept tripping in the hot lunch line, and was still trying not to spill her precious hot lunch.

" Hey guys," Kylie had said, trying to act cool.

" Hey gals," James had said.

" Who are you?" Kylie had asked, staring at James.

" James. I'm in Eric's crew. That's Eric obviously. And the blonde-haired dude is named Brady." He had smiled at Kylie and pointed to her outfit.

" We are wearing the same outfits," she had said, looking down at her outfit. Then, as Breeann sat down, Jemma decided to join her. She tripped over her own feet and threw her pancakes up in the air when her plate slipped out of her hands. She had grimaced in pain and in shock. A pancake had flown into Eric's face. But that was then.

" Kyle, You okay?"

" Yeah. I'm just referring to how we met," Kylie said.

" The boat leaves at noon. Pack your trunk," he said.

Kylie watched him leave and then headed over to her trunk. She threw her clothes, shoes, underwear, anklets, computer, pen, journal, and a few adventure dress-up stuff. She smiled as she pictured the boat taking her away with James. Everything would be perfect. She pictured her hand touching the ocean. She pictured a wave splashing her face. She pictured walking up to James with a drenched face. She pictured James laughing, wiping off her face, and asking her to dance.

But as Kylie packed her trunk, she fell asleep. Dreamland whisked her off into a whole new world. And that's how the adventure began.

Chapter 2

Kylie was still dreaming. But, her dream began with her waking up to see herself inside an engine room of a ship. She thought she wasn't dreaming, but that small thought was wrong. Of course, she didn't know that though. Let's get back to the story.

Kylie woke up to a yell screaming, " Fire in the hole." What sounded like a cannon shook the entire ship. Kylie rubbed her head; when the cannon boomed, her head hit the pole. She rubbed her eyes and climbed up the red ladder. After 20 steps up, she looked below her where she had slept. She sighed, and then paused and thought, Where is my trunk? Where is James? Why is only the map from my room on the wall? I guess I'll find out when I finish climbing this ladder. Kylie looked up. Next to her was a sign on the wall saying, " ONLY 82 MORE STEPS

TO GO!" As she climbed up the steps, she gasped when she saw what she saw. James was smiling and standing with two girls and one boy.

" James!!!" Kylie screamed, and ran over and hugged him.

" Hey. You were out for hours," James said, shaking his head.

" Please let me know what's going on," Kylie sternly said, eying the girls and the boy.

" That's Kai, the boy with the striped shirt. He carried you up to the engine room. That's Michie, the girl with orange hair. She hoisted you up onto the boat. Lastly, that is Susie. Susie reported that you were drowning," he said, pointing at each of them.

" We are the sailers all right," the boy named Kai said.

" You just appeared out of nowhere in the open sea. You were drowning. I saw you, and Mitch hoisted ya," the girl named Susie said.

" I'm very confused right now," Kylie said.

" No need to be," the girl named Mitchie said.

" I need to talk to you on the lookout," Kylie said to James.

" Bye, guys! I'm gettin' hungry. Susie, can you and Kai whip somethin' up while I'm gone?"

" Sure!"

" What's the deal with them?" Kylie asked.

" Nothin' wrong with em'," James said.

" Yes, there is. You never say em' or Nothin.' James, I'm worried about you. They seem unusual anyways. Why is there a pirate flag-"

" I need to tell you the truth, Kyle. I lied about a boat taking just us to some adventure. I lied about that. This is MY pirate boat, and Kai, Susie, and Mitchie payed me so they could go to Devil's Island."

" James, what about us? And what the heck was I doing appearing out of nowhere?"

" Susie lied about that. You were spying on me and them boarding the boat, so you got jealous and swam after us. You drowned because you can't swim."

" James, why didn't you tell me this before?"

" Also, the ship is haunted at night."

" ANY MORE SECRETS?"

" Eric likes you."

" What?"

" Eric likes you."

" Really? Why me?"

But Kylie didn't realize that this was a dream. James had left the scene.

Chapter 3

" James, your stew is ready," Susie called.

" Thank ya, Susie," James smiled.

" Wanna sit with me?" Susie asked, batting her eyelashes.

" Sure," James smiled, then winked. Unfortunately, as Kylie walked in, she saw James laughing and smiling and flirting with Susie. In shock, she dropped her bowl of stew, and ran away to the engine room, crying.

" What was that about, guys?" Susie asked.

" I dunno," James answered, then began flirting with Susie once again.

" I'm going to make sure she's okay," Kai said.

" I second that. I'm coming with," Mitchie answered.

As they stepped down the steps, they started talking to one another.

" Susie hasn't been herself lately, Kai," Mitchie said.
