Once upon a time there was a rabbit and 

there was a turtle and they both lived in 

Sochi, Russia. The turtle was selfless; she 

had big brown eyes and a beautiful green 

shell. The rabbit was cruel and always 

looking for competition. He had dark black 

eyes and was always bragging.

One day while the magical turtle, Pauline, was walking, she noticed that 

nobody was around.

Then she turned her head and, “BOO!” The evil rabbit, Jim, nearly 

knocked her off of her feet.

Right after Pauline started walking away, Jim popped up right in front 

of her, “No one walks away from me; I am as fast as a car!”

The small turtle said, “I’m sure I can beat you in a race!”

Jim looked at Pauline, “Is that a challenge?”

“Yes, that is a challenge!” Everybody in the town, including Pauline, 

knew it was crazy to think that a turtle could beat a rabbit.

The next day, Pauline woke up and 

remembered that day was “race day”. 

"Today is the day I am going to lose," 

thought Pauline.

Pauline started getting ready for the race, 

which started in 30 minutes.

When Pauline arrived at the 2014 Olympic field, she 

notices the trees hanging over the red track. She sees Jim 

on his phone playing a game that had nothing to do with the 

race. Jim stood up when he saw Pauline walk towards him.

 “Let’s start the race,” Pauline said to the rabbit.

Not far into the race, the rabbit decided to take a 

break. He sat in the grass and played on his phone.

While Pauline was running, she repeated, “Today is the 

day I am going to lose.”

As the turtle passed the rabbit, Jim chuckled, “Today 

is the day you are going to lose!” Pauline did not look up 

but thought to herself, ‘how did he hear me?’ The next 

hour, it was a continuous game of Jim playing on his 

phone, and Pauline being determined to win the race.

Pauline saw something up ahead, it 

was hurdles from the Olympics. 

The magical turtle used one of 

her qualities: flying and flew 

above the hurdles. She didn’t 

want to use magic any more than 

she had to because she wanted to 

win fairly; but she was glad that 

she had overcome the obstacle in 

her way.

    Finally, Pauline could see the “Finish Line”, the rabbit was 

way behind because he thought he could catch up in time to 

win. Pauline did not look back and she was headed straight for 

the finish line. Pauline heard the rabbit behind her and lost all 

hope of winning, but kept going. She pushed her way through 

and won the race! Close behind, Jim was frustrated. How could 

he have let this happen? Pauline was known as a hero. She 

wanted people to know that Jim could change. Pauline helped 

him change and for the rest of their lives, they all lived 

happily ever after!
