A for Arms Race- a competition for control in weapons 

between the US and the Soviet Union, meaning the 

wanted the most powerful weapons to themselves.

B for Atomic Bombs- A weapon used to 

destroy and demolish a place in a short 

period of time

C for Cuban missile crisis- a very dangerous part of the 

Cold War when the Soviets placed missiles in Cuba and 

aimed at the US.

D for Truman Doctrine- a speech by Harry Truman 

saying that the US would support Greece and Turkey 

with military and economic help

E for Berlin Blockade & Airlift- the goal was to get the 

Soviet zone to start supplying Berlin with food, feul, 

and aid. This created the Berlin airlift to start supplying 

these things to people in West Berlin

F for Cold War in Africa- The Soviet Union 

stopped shipping weapons and other products 

so this caused massive killings

G for Hungary and Czechoslovakia- The Warsaw pact 

including Hungary invaded the Czechoslovak socialist 

republic

H for Marshall Plan- the American act to help 

Europe so the US gave economic support to 

rebuild Europe economies

I for Iron Curtain- a barrier separating the Soviet 

bloc and West to saying "no" to communism 

J for John F Kennedy- Kennedy's job was to stop 

Kruschev's ships going to Cuba with nuclear missiles 

on them

K for Korean War- a war between North and South 

Korea over communism and was divided at the 38th 

parallel

L for Cold War in Latin America- there was a growing 

trend towards democracy by the growth of reformist 

parties and governments, labor unions, and other 

forms of social movements.

M for Cold War in Middle East- the United States and 

the Soviet Union became the major external powers of 

consequence in the Middle East in the period since the 

end of World War II

N for NATO and Warsaw- NATO was an alliance of 

nations including the US, UK, and Canada for defend 

Western Europe. Warsaw was the USSR's response to 

NATO

O for China falls to Communism- China became a 

communist country following the Chinese revolution. 

This revolution was lead by Mao Zedong. 

P for Space Race- a competition between the two Cold 

War rivals, the USSR and US for supremacy in 

spaceflight capability
