Game preview

On March 14, World Mathematics Day, we included math games, geometric shapes and studies on numbers in the school garden and classroom.
Game 1: 1 student rounds the cube with geometric shapes on it. The children standing in front of the geometric shapes on the carpet take one step according to the shape on the dice.
Game 2: There are numbers and objects on the flash cards. Students stick them on the wall board in the right places.

3rd kindergarten of Thessaloniki (Greece)
Activity
We place caps in two groups (less-more). A very greedy crocodile eats always what is more. We encourage children to count how many caps are on each side and place the corresponding jaws of crocodile. If there are as many caps on one side as on the other then the crocodile cannot eat them, so we put his parallel jaws (equality). Then we make the game more difficult by putting the caps in a different arrangement, some dense, some sparse. We ask the children to guess before counting and then find out if they guessed right or wrong. At the end we replace the caps with numbers.

We celebrated the International Day of Mathematics with the children.
We played two games related to movement.
1. The children chose an object, named its shape, had to go through the space of the net only following the shapes of the drawn object and place it in the correct hoop. (The game was aimed at practicing the names of geometric shapes and orientation in space).
2. The children competed in pairs, who could first and correctly assign the given number of stars to the night sky with a number. (The game was aimed at practicing number series and recognizing numbers).
