In 1910, Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, North Macedonia. She came from a humble, but not a wealthy, family and her father died when she was eight. While she was young, her mother and Catholic schooling influenced the woman she became.
How does my story relate to Mother Teressa's when she was a child?
Choose a significant figure with a story to base your wax museum project on.

Mother Teresa is a significant figure in history. A significant figure is a public figure who fought adversity for a greater cause making an impact on history. Significant figures all have a story and give others hope.
Mother Teresa became a nun, devoting her life to God when she was 18 years old. Becoming a nun meant she could spend her life practicing what she loved, caring for others. She would walk the streets of Kolkata, India serving food to starving people during The Bengal famine of 1943.
When was the last time I helped someone in need?
Explain what your figure's turning point was that made them decide to devote their life to their cause.

Significant figures tend to have a turning point when they decide to devote their life to making an impact. This turning point is normally the reason why they decided to fight for a greater cause.
Mother Teressa was not only a Catholic school classroom teacher, but she also started an open-air school in the slums of Kolkata. This school was the only way to educate the children of the slums, an old building was donated to her and her cause. Even though she didn't have much, she gave her all to teaching and helping children.
Why is Mother Teresa's cause important to me?
Explain your figure's greater cause and the importance of the cause that influenced a change.

Many of the works done by figures hold so much importance that they change the world forever. Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery and Marie Curie discovered two essential elements, they both changed the world. Sometimes a significant figure influences change, like Rosa Parks and Mark Twain.
The school became a haven for the elderly, homeless, and sick. Mother Teresa spent six months getting basic medical training to aid these people. She learned all of the local languages so that she could properly communicate with the people she was working with. In 1971 she opened her first American-based home in New York.
