Betty was turning 8 this year, and all she wanted for her birthday was a big, green plant.

It was April 9th and her birthday was finally here.
She opened all of her gifts, with much excitement but received no big, green plant.

Just as Betty was about to cry, when her parents appeared from upstairs with one last present, a big, green plant!!

She jumped up and hugged her parents.

"THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!"
Betty named her plant Mr. Great Green Giant.
But she called him Mr. Green for short.

Mr. Green
She put him on display on her dresser in her room, in the part of her room farthest from the window.

Betty and Mr. Green lived Happily ever after.
The End...
JUST KIDDING
:)
Betty and Mr. Green's story does not end here!!!
The next day, at school Betty told all of her friends about Mr.Green.

Mrs. Penny
2nd Grade Class

"Guys, guess what?"
.
"What?!?"

"I got a plant for my birthday, and he's the coolest, calmest, most cheerful plant you'll ever see and his name is Mr. Green!!"

"That's so cool, Betty!!!"

They all told her that they wanted to come see it sometime.
“I’ll take it to school this Friday,” she said happily.

She came home from school and noticed that the plant's bright green leaves were much more droopy than yesterday.

?
She didn’t think anything of it and went about her day.

Maybe all plants do this.
Betty went on with her week but each day she noticed Mr Green looked a little less lively, and a little more sad.
Betty didn’t know what to do, so she did nothing.

Friday came and Betty didn’t want to take Mr. Green to school anymore.
He looked like he had been dropped in a muddle of mud.
His leaves were now brown and wilted, they looked like they were about to fall off any minute.

Betty ran down stairs, looking rushed with tears running down her face because she had told all of her friends that her plant was the most beautiful plant ever, and now its leaves were a willow tree, droopy and hanging.

.
"I can't take him to school now."
