    Hello, my name is Itzel. I'm a 13 year old living in the Aztec Empire. My family is my Mother, my father, and my 2 other siblings. We work by farming crops on the terraces near Technochtitlan, which is part of the Aztec Empire. Sometimes, I like to walk through the city, where I have met many people before.

Date: 3/9/1518

    My day is usually full of farming. I work on a farm with my family. My family also works on this farm. Our farm has terraces so that we can grow crops, since this gives us more area to grow crops on. Sometimes, I also go to Technochtitlan, the city that is nearby.

Date: 4/13/1518

    Today, I met some people I have never seen before. They were wearing strange clothes, which were not like anything I had ever seen before. Since I wasn't sure who they were, I hid away from them, since they might be dangerous. When I got back home, my mother said she had never seen them either. I'm scared that they might be bad.

 They killed a Mayan tribe, they are dangerous!

   Today, my mother told me about the people I saw the other day. She said that they were actually Europeans. They sailed here from Spain. Another thing that she said that day was that they killed a Mayan tribe that was nearby. This scared me, since this meant they could be after us next. I hope that we are safe.

    Today, I went back to the city. I was really hoping that I did not meet any Europeans, after what my mother told me. However, I saw one of them, and tried to walk away without him knowing I was there. Surprisingly, he did not try to kill me or anyone else. He was nice and peaceful. I will tell my mother about what happened today.

Date: 7/19/1521

    Our village just got destroyed. The Europeans ransacked our house and everyone else's. We were going to run away, but they placed us under house arrest. My family is creating a plan to escape during the night. Hopefully we will be able to get away from our village.
