This is Adam. He is an Argon atom.   He does not 

attract or repel any other atoms(gas law No. 1) and is 

smaller than the space between him and other 

atoms(gas law No. 2).   He is the sheriff in the gas 

suburb of Chemistry City.   His job is to enforce the 

gas laws.  

Adam has a few friends on and off the force.   One of 

which is his old mentor, Inspector Harrison Callahan 

Hydrogen.   Harry has been around since early days 

of the universe.  

It was one of those slow weeks in the gaseous suburbs of 

Chemistry City.   The crime rate in the area had dropped 

severely since Adam had joined. They hadn't seen anything for a 

week when a report came in, "There is a hijacked bus traveling 

north on Deuterium street, the hijackers are the Krypton 

brothers they are breaking gas law No. 3, gases move in 

straight lines, by swerving and are very dangerous, units are to 

engage with caution." yelled Officer Zachary Zinc.  

With this, Harry started the car, switched on the sirens 

and started off towards the chase.   "Somethings not 

quite right about this," said Adam, "The Krypton 

Brothers were deported years ago for trying to blow off 

the continent."   "I know, but there's got to be a reason 

for this and we're going to have to find out when we get 

there." Harry said, scratching his head.   Harry switched 

off the energy filters and they shot off towards the 

oncoming bus.   "You know that's dangerous," Adam 

pointed out.   "What's dangerous is letting those three 

get away,"   Harry said back.  

The driver was not alone, he had his two brothers.   Both were 

armed with Mark III and Mark IV Rapid Fire De-bonders.   The 

driver swerved to miss one car and hit another one, but didn't 

lose any momentum because gas atoms lose no kinetic energy 

when they collide.   Adam and Harry intercepted the bus at C-

14th street.   When they arrived they hid behind their cruiser and 

fired at the bus with their trusty Energy Depleters, taking the out 

the bus.   The three brothers proceeded to open fire on them 

without hesitation.   "How are we supposed to take them down?" 

asked Adam.   "Watch and learn boy," Harry smiled, taking each 

one down in rapid succession.

The Krypton Brothers were captured and taken into the 

station for interrogation.   "First things first, what the 

heck are you doin' here?" yelled Harry.   "The boss 

wanted us to slow the outflow of people to his part of 

the city."   said Kyle Krypton.   "People have been 

flooding out since things've cooled down here," he said.  

"So he hired you to take them back in there, or block 

them?" asked Adam.   "He said to block them in any way 

possible, but not to kill them." Kota replied innocently.  

"Then why were you driving that bus? Harry asked 

angrily.   "Our other ride broke," grumbled Kristoph.

"Something doesn't make sense," Adam stated as they 

left the interrogation room, "Boss Boron has never tried 

to interfere with the gas laws before."   "I know, there's 

a first for everything though, pack your heat suit 'cause 

we're goin'." Harry said.   "He doesn't do anything 

without a reason and he'd better have a good one when 

we get there."   So they left for the home of Boss Boron.

On their way through the city there was normal amounts 

of energy on the streets, meaning everything was the 

normal amount of activity.   That was until they got 

within Boss Boron's area, where the energy level 

drastically fell as they entered.   "Sure is still in here." 

Adam said, looking out the cruiser window.   "Uh huh, 

stay on your guard."   When they got further in, they 

were ambushed by several armed atoms.

The attacking atoms were not only ferocious, but quick.  

The only advantages that Adam and Harry had were the 

radio that they used for calling backup and their heat 

suits.   "I'll send two squads to help." radioed Tyler 

Titanium.   "TELL THEM TO STEP ON IT!" Harry yelled 

into the radio.   "Let's hope they hurry." Adam said 

worriedly.  

Their heat suits by and large protected them from the 

enemy fire though they couldn't protect the cruiser so it 

was badly damaged before reinforcements arrived.  

Most of the rebellious atoms were captured but one did 

escape, so Adam had to chase him down.   It didn't take 

long to chase down the fleeing atom since his heat suit 

allowed him to run faster than other atoms(atoms move 

at the same speed when at the same temperature and 

move faster or slower at different temps.).
