On a dreary fall day in a deserted forest, Stella the squirrel
paced quickly around to find a bunch of acorns. ‘It’s so
quiet’ she thought. Just as she was about to munch on a
delicious acorn that she had discovered, mysteriously
hidden behind a massive fallen tree. A loud sound filled the
air around.

Stella followed the sound to an old oak tree, where she came
upon Leo the Beaver chopping at it. Another sound filled
Stella’s ears, but this time it was a high-pitched screech.

Kaww!! Kaww!!

Stella climbed up the huge oak tree passing Leo. She
jumped on to a thin branch where a baby bird sat screaming
at the top of its tiny lungs. Stella quickly realized if Leo cut
down the tree. The baby bird will fall since it does not know
how to fly yet.

Kaww!! Kaww!!

On the way down Stella, meets a bird pecking at a hole to
store acorns. She jostled all the way down.

Leo bolted up, astonished by seeing a friend after weeks.
“Blimey Leo! You do realize that there is an innocent baby bird
up on a branch of this tree that u are about to cut down and if
you do cut it. Then it’s going to fall.” Stella exclaimed. “ya, so
what?” asked Leo, who was apparently looking determined.

As the two argued, the mother of the baby bird swooped down
and took her baby away to find a new tree.

Seeing the birds back to safety. Stella hurried towards Leo just
in time to see Leo strike one last blow that knocked the tree
over. The bird that had been pecking at the tree, not having
noticed fluttered angrily off the branch looking at Leo with
pure disgust on his face. ‘He’s up to no good. I better keep an
eye on him.’ Stella thought to herself.

The next day Leo decided to finish building his dam, so at
dawn he set off heading towards the interior of the forest
finding a lovely oak tree. On one of the branches slept the
same baby bird from yesterday. Leo who could not have cared
less struck a mighty blow at the tree. He struck repeatedly.
The baby bird’s scream died out as the sound of chopping
wood grew. Just as Leo struck his last blow, a bird swooped
into the tree grabbing the baby bird and sped to safety.
