Once there lived a young 10 year old girl called Sasha. She lived with her older 13 year old sister Jessica and their 5 year old sister Molly. They lived with their nanny Margret. But Molly came down with a terrible fever and her sisters were very worried.

When Sasha and Jessica were just about to turn the lights of at bed, Sasha started sobbing looking at the empty bed with only Molly's doll lying alone next to her. That was where Molly slept but Nanny Margie had put Molly to sleep on her bed where she had more space and wouldn't give the fever to anyone else, though Nanny Margie would sleep in a sleeping bag at the other side of the room keeping an eye on Molly. Nanny Margie would have taken Molly to hospital, but the closest hospital was miles away. They lived in a very small village. They could afford a house with everything they needed but they didn't have money for any vehicles or electronics. Jessica felt a tear slither down her own cheek.

Jessica closed her eyes and thought hard. They had to do something or they'd be going to Molly's funeral soon. Jessica remembered her Mum. Her Mum got ill after Molly was born and died when Molly was only 8 months old. Jessica didn't even know her own Dad. Jessica loved her Mum and believed in everything she told her. Then Jessica remembered the scroll in her drawer. Jessica's Mum use to tell Jessica a tale about going over the rainbow. Jessica's Mum was a brilliant artist and made a scroll for her to keep...
Over the Rainbow you go, say the magic words, ask the Lord of the Sheep ,to an Island of sand ever so Gold...
For there is a Palm Tree, like any other, But there resting against it is a chest of what you think inside is Rubies and Gold, But there is something more Powerful, more Valuable
Behold, a fairy that can give you one wish each, Anything True to your Heart, anything you need.
But be warned, beware, every rainbow comes to an end... Over the Rainbow you go...
Jessica believed in the scroll. She wanted to go over the rainbow and ask the fairy to heal her sister. Jessica packed a small bag with extra clothes and some food. Jessica changed into some proper clothes and went for the door. Then she remembered that she had to leave a note...
So Jessica left the note
on her bedside table, got
the scroll and put it in
her bag, made a bolt
for the door...

Of on a quest! Don't worry and don't come after me, I'll be home soon
Jessica. H xxx

And Sasha woke up. "Jess, what are you doing?!" Sasha whispered. Jessica gave a groan. "Um, well...alright, I'm going to go over the rainbow," Jessica explained quickly. Sasha's mouth fell open. "What?! Why are you... how are you...why are you!!!" exclaimed Sasha.
"Remember the legend Mum told us about the fairy over the rainbow? Well I want her to heal Molly, OK?"
"Well, if you're going, so am I," demanded Sasha.
Jessica hesitated, but then gave in. "Alright, just put your glasses on and some proper clothes." And the girls went down the hill where their house was on.

When they got to the bottom of the hill, Jessica looked at the first part of the scroll, 'ask the Lord of the Sheep' . What does that mean? Thought Jessica. "Hey Sasha, who do you think the lord of the sheep is?" Jessica asked Sasha.
"I don't know, a farmer, maybe a shepherd ?" replied Sasha. A shepherd! Of course! Why didn't think of that?! Jessica thought. "Come on Sasha! Were going to see Mr. Burnfed!" said Jessica.
Mr. Burnfed is the 84 year old the shepherd in the village on the next hill from their home. When he was a younger man he lived on a farm with his beautiful wife that he loved with all his heart. 20 years after their marriage, when he was 40, his wife died and was very sad. All the children at school think he is terrifying and mock him, but Jessica, Sasha and Molly think differently. He really is a lovely and sweet man even though he looks really old and ugly. The girls is what make Mr. Burnfed happy without his wife. Sasha & Jessica ran up the hill where Mr. Burnfed was looking after his sheep. "Mr. Burnfed!" called Jessica & Sasha running up the hill.
"My goodness, if it isn't young Sash and Jess! What are you two doing up this early?" asked Mr. Burnfed in his grouchy old voice.
"Mr. Burnfed, do you know how to get over the rainbow?" asked Jessica...

Ha, ha, ha, I knew you would ask some day. Never been to the the end of the rainbow me self, but every shepherd knows and believes the legend. We mustn't ever tell anyone we know, unless they ask! Now, you see the river down there, it's very stony at the bottom. Follow the stone trail all the way to the sea's horizon and the stony trail shall end there where the hidden rainbow is. Now you only have till sunset then the rainbow disappears. And, you can only see it if you believe in it

The girls thanked Mr. Burnfed and then ran down the hill. Jessica now understood what the last bit meant...
But be warned, beware, every rainbow comes to an end... That must mean that if you stay on the island till after the sun goes down you will disappear and not come back! Thought Jessica. "Alright. What we'll do is walk down the river till we get to the sea and then get a boat," Jessica planned. Sasha nodded in agreement. As Jessica walked beside the river with Sasha, she peered down at the water. There really were lots of stones and pebbles making a trail. As the girls walked on, they realised that the river was a lot longer than they thought. From the hill it only looked like a small blue squiggle. After walking a very long way, they reached the beach. No one was there. It was really silent. Jessica decided that they needed breakfast and settled down to eat some of the food her had in her bag.

The girls hadn't realised how hungry they were. They kept eating more and more, till Jessica stopped. "Stop Sasha! Were eating to much! I only packed food for one person because I didn't know you'd come. This may be a long journey so we need to have enough food. Now come on, we better have a move on," said Jessica standing and getting her bag on her shoulders. The girls walked down the beach looking for a boat. "Are you sure there are any boats on this beach?" asked Sasha, tired of walking. Jessica felt like giving up. She looked around desperately, and then, she saw a man giving boats in the distance. The girls ran there, but when they said to the man they had no money, the man shouted at them. "Then what are you doing here wasting my time!? Go away!!! Get lost!!!" Jessica and Sasha ran off. They held each others hand, shivering. They had been frightened. They were also cold. It was a cold early morning. But then lucky them, they saw a boat and ran to it.

The girls went inside the boat. It was quite old and rusty, not like the boats the man was giving that seemed almost brand new, and it was also a bit small so Sasha and Jessica had to squish up a bit. Though the small boat was enough. Jessica and Sasha pushed the boat to the bit of the beach where the stony river was. Jessica looked down at the stony trail in the river and saw that it carried on into the sea, just like Mr. Burnfed had said. The girls pushed the boat into the sea and got into it. Jessica rowed the boat, following the stony trail on the in the sea. "We're really on our way!" exclaimed Sasha and they gave a little cheer.

The girls sailed on for a bit, on the blue sea. A few minutes later, Jessica was struggling to see the stony trail. Soon, she could no longer see it. Jessica stopped and was confused. Then she realised, the sea was getting deeper! She forgot that the sea would get deeper the further she got. "Oh, no. The stony trail must be down at the sea bed. I forgot the sea gets deep," Jessica told Sasha. "Oh yes! I forgot to. Hmm, oh, I know what we need! A submarine!" exclaimed Sasha.
"That is a good idea! But, how are we going to get one?" asked Jessica. The girls thought for a moment. Jessica was starting to panic. Had they really got onto the sea, far from there home and now have to go back? Jessica closed her eyes, only wishing a submarine could just appear in front of them. As if by magic, when Jessica opened her eyes, she could see a submarine, only a couple of meters away from them! "Look Sasha! A submarine!" cried Jessica.

"That's great! Lets go up to it!" said Sasha.
"No, lets stay here so we don't loose where the stony trail could be. Lets call for it," Jessica said and started waving her arms in the air. Sasha then started waving her arms in the air and they called. "Hello there! Come here! Hello!"
Soon, the submarine started coming towards them. When the submarine reached them, a young woman came out from the top. "Why there, hello! Are you girls alright?" asked the young woman. Sasha and Jessica were relived that the young woman seemed nice after being scared by the man giving away the boats. "Hello. Yes, were alright. I know this may sound strange, but can you please take us somewhere in your submarine?" and Jessica took out the scroll from her bag and showed it to the young woman. "We need to follow the stony trail down on the sea bed." Jessica and Sasha both explained their story and the young woman agreed on taking them and the went under the sea.
