Food Waste reduction  strategy

Nowadays, there is a huge amount of food that is wasted. So, we found some ways to reduce food waste.

Food Waste reduction in RESTAURANTS and HOTELS

-  Dinners leave17% of their meals uneaten. 

- 55% comestible leftovers are left at restaurants and hotels. 

This is because of portion sizes which have increased significantly over the past 30 years.

A.  -Smaller portions=> costumers can consume all of the food and there won't be leftovers. 

 -Reduction of their expenses at 25% - 30%.

Β. -The application => the guests can order their meals or breakfast at hotels and restaurants from the previous day. 

  - Its cost=> 1.000 - 2.000 €. 

50% and European Union/ Program of waste reduction =>the rest 50%.

Food waste reduction in Households

- Householdes are responsible for the largestportion of all food waste. Major contributors, overbuying, poor planning.

A. -There will be also an application of waste reducing for supermarkets => list of the products they want to buy. 

The application will inform them about their exrire date,their cost, the cheapest products, so as they can buy them before the price will increase again and where to put the produsts in their refrigerators.

-Cost =>also about 1.000 - 2.000€.

B. -Waste reducing part in a supermarket=> we can return the products, we can not consume because they exrpire in a short time. 

- We can sell them for a little of money at the supermarket. This way poors can buy the products for a reduced price and we are get money at the same time.

Food waste reduction at schools

- There is a large number of food waste at schools. Moreover, students are not informed about ways to reduce food waste and they are not familiarized with the idea of saving food.

A. -Experts visiting schools and explaining to the studens what composting is. They will raise awarness in the school.

 -Exlpanation => with fairytales for the little students. 

 -The one expert will be paid 50€ for a day. The municipality will pay the 50% and the E.U./ Organization waste reducing the other 50%. 

-Art teacher and older students => write slogans on the school's walls

- Little students => color them. 

B. Composting bins at schools

  -Costing => about 50 €. 

So, a city like Pazardzhich will need 3.000 - 3.600€ as it has 15 schools. 

The composting bins will be paid 50% of the E.U./Organization waste reducing and 50% of the municipality.

To sum up, this is our ideas to reduce food waste.
