The Nuremberg Trials were and Nuremberg, Germany. Their purpose was to serve Nazi war criminals justice, and they took place from 1945-1949. They tried top Nazi Germany leaders for Germany's crimes, including the holocaust. It was a milestone for a permanent international court, which would later deal with other crimes against humanity.

Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and the United States brought together judges to look over the hearing of 22 Nazi Criminals. The United States held 12 additional trials in Nuremberg they tried; high-level officials of the German government, military, and SS as well as medical professionals and leading industrialists.(Holocaust Encyclopedia)

Interesting!

They wanted to convict them but they also wanted to stack up as much evidence as possible. They were able to convict 22/22 of them with crimes against peace, and 12 were convicted. And only 2 defendants were acquitted.

The trials lasted between the years of 1945-1946. The very first trial date was held on November 20, 1945 and the very last being held on October 1, 1946. On August 8, 1945 the Alliance group created the International Military Tribunal which was a group of four appointed judges that created the prosecution team. One person was from each of the countries in the Alliance.

The Nuremberg trials were held at the symbolic location of Nuremberg, Germany where huge crowds of Nazi soilders would gather previous to the trials.
This was the very first jury made up of people from more than one country having 4 different countries represented.
Not all of the defendants were found guilty. Some were found to be innocent and released.
This is the very first time people where getting charged with crimes against humanity.
