Stephanie- Very observant student with a natural curiosity for her environment.                  

Victor- A student in Stephanie's class who loves nature and knows a lot about it.                   

Mr. Grande- Stephanie's 2nd grade teacher, he is very supportive.

Stephanie's Dad- Single parent raising Stephanie on his own, doesn't know much about gardening.

Here we are Stephanie at our new home, this whole yard belongs to us, its bigger than at our last home. I'm going to finish unpacking while you go to school.

Okay Dad, I think I see the bus at the end of the driveway, I'll see you later today.

    Stephanie and her dad arrive at their new home, and already they both know they have their work cut out for them.

    Stephanie's Dad recognizes how big their yard is and doesn't have much experience with gardening, in their old home in the city, they didn't have a yard.

    Stephanie feels bad that she can't do much for her dad sometimes, he works so hard for the both of them. 

    "I wish I could do something to help my dad out" thought Stephanie as she boarded the bus to her new school.

STEPHANIE

Class, we have a new Student in our class today and her name is Stephanie. Let's all try our best to make her feel welcome! I'm Mr. Grande your new 2nd Grade teacher, and I am excited to have you join our classroom family!

    Stephanie is quite surprised how quickly she felt welcome at her new school. Once she sat down, a classmate named Victor passed her an apple. 

    "This is for you, we picked some yesterday from our school garden, I picked a lot and wanted you to have this one." 

    Stephanie took a bite of the apple and was surprised at how good it tasted. 

    "Wow that's a delicious apple! Thanks Victor, I hope I can see the garden and pick one for my Dad."

    "I'm great at picking apples, My family has a huge garden filled with all sorts of things I can pick, I learned a lot from my parents and from Mr. Grande about Gardening."

    Just then Mr. Grande calls everyone's attention to the front of the class, "Everyone, lets finish settling in and make our way to the school Garden, I want you all to take some notes on the things we notice again."
