Of course today was the day! The day she had been
dreading for weeks. She was going to go on her first
bus. Most kids were full of excitement to see each-other
again after a long summer, but she was just filled with
nervousness.

She had never really interacted with kids her age
before. She was scared about how they would judge
her. She wanted new friends and she was tired of being
lonely. When she got on the bus she immediately sat
down in the seat that was empty and started reading
her book. It was louder than she expected so she just
ignored them and kept minding her
own buisness.

As she got off the bus something so unexpected
happened that it left her in shock. SHE HAD MET A BOY!
She was walking off the bus when all of a sudden
a boy named Jacob introduced
himself. He said that Ruben, my
"Friend", had told him about me.
I was so happy! He was sweet
and witty and smart!

So day after day Taylor and Jacob hanged out more
often so of course they became better friends. She also
had met some other friends. Everyday she would see
them on the bus then if she had time Taylor would play
with them later in the afternoon also.

As they got to know each-other better and better she
started to realize how much they had in common. So she
started hanging out with him more than most of her
other friends. It made her neighbor Nate jealous. Nate
and Jacob never really got along because Jacob has a
little brother Josh. Josh would come over talking about
how mean his older brother was and how he was the
worst brother ever. Then when Jacob came to pick up
Josh he was always a little moody because he really
didn't want to be babysitting his brother, who could not
keep track of time. As a result of this when he came to
the door he sounded really mean. So when Taylor first
met him on the bus she was a little hesitant about having
him be my friend. When she first met him for real she
looked past all the mean things his little brother said and
saw a sweet, kind, and smart boy. They were the best of
friends.

Even though school is over for the summer they will never
stop having fun and hanging out. She will never forget her
first time going to a public school, the first time she met
Jacob, and the first time she went on a school bus. They
will forever be great friends, but if she had never gotten on
the bus then she never would have met Jacob. Whenever
something unexpected, new, or scary is thrown your way
take a chance because sometimes if you don't you might
regret it when you are older. I know that this is, for most
people, not a very big challenge, but imagine that you had
never really interacted with kids your age before and was
thrown in with them and forced to fend for yourself. She
had no idea how they dressed, acted, or talked. She was
not only scared because She was doing all of this for the
first time but also because others had been telling me
stories of bad experiences on the bus.
