Week 1st
Topic
Introductory chapter, the elements and concepts.
"The Point": Theory, work, presentation (3 hours).

Objective
The perception of the supervisory capital, the overall
presentation of the geometric elements and how they
contribute to the process of composition. Aware of their
existence in art and everyday life. Understanding the sign
as a component.

1st Activity
In a project sheet 35 x 50 cm Students will design 12
(3x4) squares 10x10 cm by placing in each block one or
several points in different positions (center, top, bottom,
side, clustered, scattered, arranged RT. etc.). Outside
and below each block will write one word which produce
feelings (eg peace, stability, anxiety, balance, imbalance,
stress, etc.).
For homework will be asked to collect images from
various sources (magazines, newspapers, internet, etc.) to
highlight the point/s, to get stuck in a glue 35 X 50 cm
and to comment.

Resources
Introductory chapter.
A brief presentation of the
modules that make up the
principles of composition in the
visual and applied arts. The
basic principles of design,
color, composition and viewing
two related videos in the blog
"Elements of Composition"
http://stihiasynthesis.blogspot.gr
The importance of the "point"
in science and art.

Assessment
Annotations of works, presentation of the variety
of choices and the degree of identity of the
proposed projects and verbal interpretations.

2nd Week
Topic
"The Line": Theory, work, presentation, evaluation
(three hours).

Objective
Understanding the role of the line in the process
of composition, variety of form and meaning.
Ability to observe virtual synthetic lines that
structure the artwork.

2nd Activity
In one page of A4 white paper, students are asked the
class to compose a poster using 2 lines of their choice
(curves, zigzags, straight) with a thickness of their
choice and also a word that they will choose. They are
asked to think about the relationship of word-line and
lines they choose. Finally they are asked to try
different combinations.
For homework will be asked to cut three different
advertising pages of magazines and analyze the kinds
of lines that have been used in the synthesis of images.
In addition to place a transparent page on the images
and design lines they consider most important.

Resources
What is the "line" in geometry and that is expressed in
art. The species lines, guidelines, sections,
compositions, balances. Examples of art and life.
Identification of synthetic virtual lines in different art
forms. Using a non-linear presentation with Prezi
application of "Principles of Composition" at:

Assessment
Open Discussion of homework the first subsection, a first
presentation of the work of second job. Highlighting the diversity
of choices and the degree of balance and sign chat lines
suggested words. Exhortations for work on corrections, further
improvements and the possible increase of the proposed
scenarios.
