One Little Caterpillar
One magical, sunny day there was a fuzzy little caterpillar. He felt so lonely, peeking up into the sky, wondering what else there was to the world then eating leaves and crawling around. He crawled along the grassy floor of the city park.
He gazed up at his friends flying up in the sky. All of his friends were butterflies.
Is this what every day is going to be like? He wonders to himself. Every. Single. Day. He would be looking up at his friends, sloshing in the mud, and eating plain, boring leaves. The caterpillar, whose name was Herman, decided to go search around the best part of the park… the picnic tables.

As Herman scooched along the dirt-filled ground, he heard his friends call out to him. “Herman! Come play with us!”
Herman pondered this. The last time he tried to play with his butterfly friends he ended up not playing at all! Herman and his friends were playing pinecone toss, but the butterflies kept on forgetting that Herman was on the ground. They would always fly too high to even see Herman anymore!
“No thanks,” Herman decided. “I’m going to look for a snack.”
“Okay,” His friends replied after him.
They fluttered away, and once again Herman was alone. Herman widdle-waddled away to the picnic tables once again.

After five minutes of a treacherous journey, Herman finally reached the picnic tables. He searched for even a hint of food in every nook and cranny. Just a few seconds after the search, he found a jackpot of food! Oh My! MMM! This looks so good! He thought.
The beautiful site Herman was staring at was indeed beautiful! Some humans had left Herman a whole entire basket full of food! He rushed over to the food-filled basket and crawled right in.
Herman then began to stuff his face full of biscuits, fruit salads, and baloney sandwiches. Suddenly, Herman began to feel super tired. Hmm, must be all the food. He pondered.

Right at that moment, he heard humans talking. They must be coming for the basket! He thought. Well, I was done anyway… Herman scurried out of the picnic basket and shuffled through the grass.
“Well, I feel like I should take a nap!” Herman said out loud. Just then he began to spin a cocoon. Just like that, he suddenly had a fantastic, warm, cozy bed. Herman soon fell asleep after that.
Herman was so tired he slept and slept through the seasons of the year. He slept through Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
