Aa is for Anaconda. An Anaconda can
grow up to 30 feet. That is almost the
same size as a school bus!

Bb is for Bullet Ant. These ants
have a toxic sting; a sting that feels
30 times worse than a bee sting.

Cc is for canopy. The canopy is the main
layer of the Amazon Rainforest. The
leaves of the trees block out most of the
sunlight from reaching the forest floor.

Dd is for Dart Frog.
These frogs are poisonous and come
in over 100 different species.

Ee is for emergent.
The emergent layer of the Amazon
Rainforest is the highest of the four
layers. This layer receives the most
sunlight.

Ff is for the forest floor.The forest
floor is the dark ground layer. The
ground has a poor quality of soil, but
has many microorganisms.

Gg is for glass frog. Glass frogs
have translucent skin, and have a
life span of 10-14 years.

Hh is for Heliconia. Heliconia
is a plant whose flowers provide a lot
of nectar, especially for Hummingbirds.

Ii is for Ipe Tree. You can find
this tree near the river. These
trees are known to be used for
making items, such as benches.

Jj is for "Jesus" Lizard. The Basilisk
Lizard gets the nickname "Jesus" Lizard
because it can run almost 5 feet across
water, using only 2 legs.

Kk is for Kinkajou. This cute animal
has a tail,much like a monkey; however,
the Kinkajou has 5 toes, just like us!

Ll is for "Lipstick" Tree. This tree gets
it's nickname because a lot of the local
tribes would use the seeds to make
body paint.

Mm is for medicine. Medicine can
be made up of lots of different plants.
This plant is called a Graviola Tree.
This plant can kill cancer cells.

Nn is for nest. Nests are where birds are born,
and live. Over 1,300 different types of birds live in
the Amazon Rainforest.That means that there are
a lot of nests.

Oo is for Ocelot. An Ocelot
is territorial, and nocturnal. They hunt
mostly at night.

Pp is for Piranha. A piranha is a type
of fish that has sharp teeth.
