HE  IS THE FOUNDER AND THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF TURKISH REPUBLIC

HE IS NOT ONLY THE HERO OF MY CITY BUT ALSO OUR COUNTRY' S AND THE WORLD' S    GREATEST LEADER.

ANITKABİR/ ANKARA

ANITKABİR ( MONUMENTAL TOMB ) IS THE MAUSOLEUM OF MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATÜRK AND IT IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT LANDMARK OF OUR CITY, ANKARA.

–This is a story about how much importance he gave   to every nation and religion.

–When enemies  landed at  our country , they didn’t respect to Turkish flag.  

–However the enemy's army lost the war. 

Local Turks wanted to do the same thing for revenge. Their flag was laid down for Atatürk, but he strongly refused and said:

–The flags are sacred; no one has the right to be disrespectful to them, even if it is your enemy’s.

       SATI KADIN
    (HATI ÇIRPAN)

She was born in the village of Kahramankazan , Ankara.She was the wife of a soldier who was wounded during the Balkan War. She was the mother of five children.. 

She was a peasant from Central Anatolia who had fought for four years during the Turkish War of Independence.

WHEN ATATURK VISITED A VILLAGE, HE MET A WOMAN WHO WAS THE HEADMAN OF THE VILLAGE.ATATURK LIKED THE COURAGE AND INTELLIGENCE OF THE WOMAN AND ASKED HOW OLD SHE WAS. SHE SAID SHE WAS BORN WHEN ATATURK LANDED IN SAMSUN FOR THE NATIONAL STRUGGLE İN 1919.. ATATURK WAS PLEASED WITH THESE WORDS AND SAID “WE FOUND THE PERSON TO REPRESENT THE TURKISH WOMAN IN THE PARLIAMENT  AND IN THE FIRST ELECTION  SHE BECAME ONE OF THE FIRST MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT IN 1935.

There is a mausoleum in Kahramankazan and her house has been turned into a museum

HALİDE EDİP ADIVAR

SHE  WAS  THE   TURKISH WRITER,POLITICIAN AND TEACHER.

HALİDE EDİP MOBILIZED THE PEOPLE IN İSTANBUL AGAINST THE INVASION OF THE COUNTRY in  1919. HER SPEECH AT SULTANAHMET SQUARE DREW WİDE ACCLAIM. 

IN THIS PERIOD SHE PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN THE TURKISH INDEPENDENCE WAR.

SHE HELPED ASSISTING THE SMUGGLING OF WEAPONS TO ANATOLIA. 

SHE  ALSO   SERVED ALONGSIDE MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATÜRK   DURING  WORLD WAR AND GIVEN THE RANK OF CORPORAL IN THE BATTLE OF SAKARYA.

MEHMET AKİF ERSOY

Mehmet Akif Ersoy was a poet,writer, politician and the AUTHOR of the TURKISH NATIONAL ANTHEM.

In 1921, a national anthem competition was organized. Mehmet Akif didn’t attend the competition first, because achievements of the nation could not be praised with money. Mehmet Akif  changed his decision and wrote the anthem.On March 12, 1921, the Turkish Grand National Assembly declared Ersoy's poem as the national anthem.

      AHİ EVRAN 

Ahi Evran played an important role in the establishment of Ahi organization.

The word  “AHİ”  means open-handed, generous and  my brother.

In addition to its economic and commercial activities , Ahi Organization had also military and political power and it played an active role in establishing Ottoman Empire. 

According to the Ahi principles, an Ahi person must always have an occupation.. He must be generous .He must be honest , be modest and not  be greedy. He must help the poor.

Every year,in the third week of September , Ahi – Order Culture Week  is celebrated in Turkey.

,You can see the name of Ahi Evran at some of the schools and  universities or in some streets and parks.Our school has taken his name, too. 

SEYMENLER 

  A Seymen; Efe means valiant( brave) and horseman. They have their own unique clothes and ways of dressing. 

. The "Seymen Tradition",, has been kept alive in Ankara for centuries..
