Introduction
In this book you will learn all different things
about bats. Whether it is where they live or what
they eat, and my book can answer your
question. If you have a question then all you
have to do is write it in your comment. I hope
you enjoy my book about bats!

Eat
Bats leave their roosts at night to hunt. They use
echolocation to find insects. Bats eat gnats,
beetles, crane flies, wasps, and moths. Did you
know that bats can chew seven times every
second? They can eat up to 1,200 bugs every
hour! Bats have to get plenty to eat in the
summer and fall. They must store up enough
energy to live on through the winter when the
go into hibernation.

Live
Bats live in colonies. During the summer, they roost
in attics, under bridges, and in mines. They also can
live in hollow trees, under tree bark, and in caves.
They like to live near water where there are plenty
of insects to eat! The bats hibernate close together
in their winter home. This slows the evaporation
from their bodies which keeps the bats from waking
up thirsty during hibernation.

Life Span
The life span of a bats depends on what type of bat
it is. A medium sized bat can live to be 40 years old.
A smaller bat can only live about 25 years. But a
much larger bat can live about 30 years. It depends
on a bats size for how long they are going to live. A
healthy diet can also play a role in the bats life span
or how long it lives.

A Sickness
Thousands of bats are dieing every year because of
white nosed syndrome. This is a disease that is
formed on a bats nose. It looks like tiny flakes of
snow. This sickness can quickly kill the bats for
unexplained reasons. If thousands of bats are dieing
then there will be more bugs on the earth then
people!
