 Chapter 1: Finding a  Portal  

 “Hurry up, Mia or we will be late!” Rara said. 

    “Coming,” said Mia. “I’m ready to go, Rara.”

    “Finally. Now come on, let’s go so we’ll be early.”

    Boom! “What was that?” Mia asked.

    “I don’t know, but let’s get going! We don’t want to be late for the first day of school!” They left the house and headed to the path in the forest to get to school. When they walked through the forest they had so much fun, but they stopped because they saw something weird. Suddenly, it started to glow!! But then it stopped glowing. I thought it was magical, said Mia in her head. Just then, there was a shining circle in front of them. “So beautiful,” she said. Then it stopped. Mia was so mad, she kicked the air near the shining circle. 

The next thing she knew, Raya started walking through it. “We found a real portal!” she said and Mia followed after her.

    “Rara?”Rara?

    “Yeah, Mia? The portal looks so cool with lace and rubys.”

    “I know,” said Mia. “I also like the birds chirps and wind. And it feels so soft and smooth and it smells like flowers.”

     They kept walking in, but a bolder passed them and almost squashed them! 

    Suddenly an elf raced over and began asking them questions. “Why don’t you have pointy ears?” 

    Why is he asking a question like that, wondered Mia. “We’re humans,” she replied. The elf started shaking and looked like he was about to scream. “Calm down! It’s ok! We’re not here to hurt you!” Then the elf calmed down.

    Then they asked him a question. “Why are you so afraid of us,” Mia asked. The elf replied, “Because in the past, humans destroyed our world, that’s why all of the elves that live here are scared of humans.

    “Well, it’s different now in the human world. We’re all nice and love elves and mystical creatures.” But the elf said humans hunted them in the past which  is why they built a portal so they could go and have some peace. In the portal, though, they had more enemies. Zombies and frankenstiens lived in the area before us. They tried fighting us off to get their land back, but they never did but we had some close calls.”

    While the elf was telling the story, Mia started screaming because it was too much pressure for a first grader like her. Mia saw frankenstiens and zombies taking over the elves land and heading towards them. “Look behind you!” Mia screamed.
