I was happy because I got some good
presents for my birthday earlier (a sword
from Steve, a telescope from Mickey and
a pair of sunglasses from Mom and Dad),
but I was sad because my other best friends
couldn't come because Mom and Dad said
there wasn't enough room in the house.
There was plenty of room!

All my best friends and I lived next to each other.
Every day we got together and played in our special
place that no one knew about called Forestville. We
would step out of our houses at exactly 11:30 and we
would stand there for exactly two minutes and we
would march in a line.

Forestville is a bit creepy, but we still have fun. We take
turns flying kites, and I showed them my new sword. I
named it Excalibur. Cleo is the girl dressed in gold and
white, Jane is the girl with a purple belt on, Emma is the
girl with the pink dress and Marie is the one who likes to
wear the crown.

Today we decided that instead of staying in Forestville,
we would steal Steve's dad's ship and and try to sail it.
"It's humongous and we could sail it by ourselves! Dad
taught me a little, so I'll be the captain. You guys are the
people who do everything else." Steve said. Steve didn't
seem to know a lot about sailing.

We all stood in front of the massive ship, its sails already up.
The only thing making it stay on the shore was a piece of rope
tied to it and a stick. We stared for a long time.
"Are you sure this is okay?" Cleo asked.
"Yep." Steve said in a tiny voice.
"Let's do this, then!" I said in a brave voice.
So we started climbing on board.

"Listen up." Steve explained, "We're going to be traveling
for four days. When it's been exactly two days, we'll head
back to land. We have plenty of food and water stored in
the storage area. There's three rooms. My headquarters,
your room and the storage area. If anyone tries to steal
from our ship, which happens with Dad a lot, we'll
fire the bombs!"

"Are you sure we should be doing this? We're just nine
years old! And Steve is eight!" Cleo said.
"Steve seems to know what he's doing, and it's an adventure.
I'm already having fun already!" Emma smiled.
"I don't want to die the day after my ninth birthday!" I whined.

We had dinner, and the food was delicious! I think I had the
best vegetable soup on the planet. I'm glad Steve remembered
to put the anchor down. We all gobbled up our soup hungrily.
Even though rumors have it that rats live in the storage rooms
of ships, I haven't seen any.
