Another hard day in the fields, the hot sun beaming onto all of our faces, with no breaks in sight. In fact, the closest time from now that we can stop working is 5 hours from now. Which is when we have dinner, and even then, when you really think about it, isn’t really that much of a meal, It’s just what we’re used to eating, but nobody actually likes it. We pretty much always eat the same foods every day, and even then eating bread and stew forever isn’t really great. Man, if I could just get my hands on a steak, I could get a dang good meal in and if I got some more, I could stop eating these wretched foods forever! Maybe there’s a way I can hunt something in the forest if I build a bow out of stems and plants, and maybe some fallen wood from the trees by my shack. I’m about to go to bed, but I have a great plan for tomorrow and I know just how I’m gonna build my bow, but there’s definitely a risk involved with my plan.
Another day another morning! Now that I have my bowstring and my bow body, I can start putting them together, if I put little wedges in the side of the tree wood then maybe I can put the wheat stems inside the wedges and then create tension in them to spring back and fire my arrow. But how would I do that, most of the farming tools are way too big to use on such a thin piece of wood, and even if they weren’t, the lord made sure to have all of those farming tools as dull as possible just in case the serfs tried to rebel and start a riot, even though I think they knew we would fail to do anyway. But because of that, I’ll have to take something from someone who has access to more usable things, maybe the knight or lord. Out of the two I think the knight is the better option, mainly because the lord is in the manor home pretty much always. But even stealing something from the knight would be extremely difficult, mostly because I would have to steal something off of his horse, and his horse might notice. Let’s just say if that happened I’d be… you know… dead.
Well, I guess I have to do it, because if I don’t it’s back to eating stew and bread for the rest of my life, and there is simply no way that I’m living my entire life without eating one of those scrumptious-smelling meats that I’ve seen the lord and knight eat for years! So now I guess I need to do it, the knight is right over there, and I think that now is my chance. I'm quietly walking toward the horse, knowing even the slightest rustle of leaves would get me croaked. I see the knife, it’s right in the horses saddle’s back pocket, the dead leaves on the ground threatening me with my life, and the small blade in the knights back pocket almost taunting me with how close I am to it. Now I just need to grab the knife out of the saddle pocket, and slowly walk away like nothing happened. Seems easy enough, although once I grab it, if the knight looks, there’s no chance of me surviving. Ok, now’s the time, I’m just going to grab it and yank it out. Done, now I just slowly walk away and-
“Hey!”
Uh oh
“What are you doing so close to my horse?”
He’s on to me, what should I do? Should I run, should I hide? Should I just cooperate?
“I-I was just c-coming over here to say th-thanks for fighting in the war so well!
“Really? Alright fine just get back to your work, you dirty snollygoster”
