Bonnie the Bee had lived her entire life in her cozy Beehive.

Now that Bonnie and her friends were old enough, they could leave the Hive to pollinate the flowers of Spring!

Once it came time to fly for the very time, Bonnie felt as though she could already feel herself soaring above the colorful flowers.

"Get ready to fly!"

Bonnie and her friends took their positions.

Bonnie’s friends zoomed out of the Hive. Bonnie tried and tried but failed. She looked sadly at her friends as they flew away.

Bonnie was upset she couldn’t fly yet.

“It takes some bees more time than others. Don’t worry!”

After her friends returned they all chatted about flying. They offered Bonnie help so she could fly with them. Bonnie said she didn’t need any.

Once Bonnie came home her parents comforted her.

“Don’t worry! I can help you fly!” said Papa bee.

“I can also help you! It took me time too.” said Mama bee.

Bonnie did not want to need any help.

“I can do it on my own!” said Bonnie. Mama bee and Papa bee exchanged worried looks.

Bonnie needed to find out a solution to her problem before it was time to leave the Hive again.

Bonnie decided that her wings were not strong. Bonnie then tried to make her wings stronger in the Hive’s gym.

When the time came to fly again she felt ready.

She got her wings ready, and tried and tried...but she could not fly.

"We can help you fly. We have some tips!"

"No thanks. I don't need any help. I can do it on my own."

When Bonnie came home that night, her parents once again tried to help her.

Bonnie was determined to figure out how to fly. She realized that maybe she needed bigger wings. She then got to work on stretching out her wings.

Once again it was time to leave the Hive, and Bonnie felt ready.

When the time came to fly, Bonnie tried and tried, but she still could not fly.
