I want to dedicate this informational story to my younger sister, Kara. Kara has shown lambs for years and has taught me so much about the stock show industry. I truly would not be the person I am today without her knowledge and guidance. Kara is passionate and never wants to stop learning new things. Kara motivated me to write this informational story because she would want to share her knowledge with others, and I want to take the opportunity to share my wealth of knowledge with anyone that will listen. Showing lambs is not easy, but Kara makes it look like a breeze. Thank you Kara for always sharing your passion.

Step One
The first step to showing lambs is picking out your lambs. we select show stock based on budget, genetics, age, and gender. Selecting which lambs you are going to show is important based on where you are showing, what your end goals are, and your experience level.

Step two
The second step of showing a lamb is making sure that it has a comfortable pen to live in. having a comfortable and functional pen for lambs is important. for lambs to grow properly and stay healthy they need to be in the right environment.

Step three
The third step in showing a lamb is making sure that they are eating the proper food. lambs need food that is particular to lambs and has the correct ingredients. With that, it is also important to weigh your lambs weekly to make sure they are gaining the appropriate amount of weight per week.

step four
the fourth step in showing a lamb is shearing. lambs must be sheared to stay cool and keep a healthy coat. without shearing, lambs will overheat and have a higher chance of getting fungus. by keeping the lamb sheared we can better track muscle growth, skin health, and prevent overheating.

step five
the fifth step in showing lambs is working hair. the lambs legs grow hair and it is important to keep it looking nice and healthy. the longer and healthier the leg hair, the higher quality the lamb. there are many conditioners, shampoos, and sprays that can be used to ensure healthy hair.

step six
the sixth step to showing lambs is getting the lamb used to walking in a halter. halter breaking your lamb is important so they are easy to transport and walk around.
