“Crunch! Crunch!” As the leaves crumbled while
the rake’s long fingers ran through them. It was
the afternoon before Halloween and I was raking
the leave. Dad told me if I did a great job on
raking he would buy me the best Halloween
costume form Hallo’s Shop grand opening tonight.
And he also promised that we’d go early so that
we’d be the first ones there and we’d make sure
to get the best costume. “Swoosh” it was starting
to get chilly out so I started raking quicker. After a
few minutes I was done, the lawn was looking
perfecto.

I soon ran inside to show dad.
He sure was impressed. And so was mom who was
already nine months pregnant. I put on my coat
quickly and I ran to the car. Dad came after me.
We drove two streets and one block. We was lots of
homes and roads and stores.

Soon we saw a lot of color full lights as we got
closer it spelled WELCOME TO HOLLO’S GRAND
OPENING. Once Dad parked his we went on to the
front wide door with a yellow ribbon around it. We
weren't the first but lucky we were the third. Many
kids were running towards the line. “Un...Uung” as
a man cleared out his throat, Welcome to the
grand opening, he said in a loud voice. Everyone
got quiet. But dad’s phone rang, so we had to step
out of line.

He told me that he had to bring mom to the
hospital for the baby so he asked me if I wanted to
go and I told him no so he gave me 25 bucks and
he told me he didn’t have enough time so I would
have to sleep over a friend’s house and so he left
me and I got back in line. As the man talked I
looked back at dad’s car as it drove away.

“I know everyone’s exited tonight so I
shall cut this ribbon and we shall all
enter in pride.” So he cut the ribbon and
everyone dashed in holding a parent on
the other hand. I found the world
awesome-st costume, I can’t even
describe it. No-one will ever notice me.
