Once upon a time, there was a widow and her son named Jack living in a
farmhouse in the country. Everyday, Jack would have to do some chores
such as chop wood or milk the cow. On one 30 degree Celsius day, the
widow did not know what to do.
“We don’t have enough money to buy seed for the farm this year! We must
sell our cow, Old Bess, and with the money buy enough seed to plant a
good crop.” explained the widow to Jack.
Jack took Bess's leash and walked out of his gate and headed toward the
town. Jack only had to walk 5 meters until he approached a funny looking
old man. The old man though was offering three "magic" beans to Jack in
trade for Old Bess, saying that the beans can grow a beanstalk. Jack thought
that this was a fair trade and took the beans in trade for Old Bess.
The Bean Trade

The Magic Beans
Once Jack returned home he was greeted by his mother.
"Back already Jack? It feels that that was only a couple of seconds that you
were away." The widow said to Jack.
Then Jack showed his mother the beans, but instead of being happy for the
three magical beans, she burst into tears. Jack did not know what to do. He
ran up to his room in the attic and threw the beans out of the window and,
after lots of tossing and turning, he went to sleep.
When Jack woke up the next morning, his room looked different. Half of the
room was filled with sun and the other was dark and shady. He got dressed
and looked out of the window. There was a ginormous beanstalk where the
beans were. Jack ran outside to the stalk, and used it's leaves to climb higher
and higher into the sky. When Jack was finished climbing there was a 50
meter road that lead to a castle. He ran over the road and to the castle, only to
find a giant.

Giants
The giant had one big eye on her forehead. Jack tried to run away, but the giant
picked Jack up like he was only 1 gram and dragged him into the castle. The
giant lady dragged Jack into the kitchen and gave him a chunk of cheese and a
50ml cup of milk. Jack only took a couple of bites when he heard a big mass of
thumps coming from inside the castle.
""Goodness gracious me! It's my husband. There's nothing he likes better than
boys broiled on toast and I haven't any bread left. Here, come quick and jump
in here." The giant directed Jack into a large pot on the stove.
"Fee-fi-fo-fum,
I smell the blood of an Englishman,
Be he alive, or be he dead
I'll have his bones to grind my bread." The man giant roared. The lady giant
declined and told him that no ones been there in years and to go wash up while
she cooks. Jack was about to run for it when the lady stopped him.

Jack peeked out of the pot he was in and saw the male giant come into the
kitchen carrying a white hen and a basket with golden eggs. The giant
commanded lay and the hen laid another golden egg to add to his collection.
After the giant ate his breakfast, the giant pulled out a golden harp and placed
it on the table. He commanded it to play and he fell asleep right then and
there. Jack then, without making noise, sunk out of the pot and walked out of
the kitchen. He heard a weeping noise though, sighed, and went back into the
kitchen.
When Jack was back in the kitchen he grabbed the hen and the harp, together
weighing over 1,000 grams, and walked out of the kitchen. At this moment in
time, the hen made a cackle and woke up the sleeping giant.
Once he got out of the castle he heard, "Wife, wife, what have you done with
my white hen and my golden harp!"
