This story is for Asians who has gone through years of being poor to being great at anything they set their mind to. Asian-Americans have a very long history of facing hate and racism across America. Asians of Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese and Indian heritage have gone to extreme lengths to fight for equality and justice, and many stories about them have been told.

The following is a fictional story based off of the events of Detroit during the 1980s.

Over the course of many years, Asians have been moving to America in order to live a better life than they had before, and fight through racism and hate to gain respect and fair treatment. This is the story of Long Jun's journey to become a well-respected police officer in the city of Detroit, Michigan.
But how did he get to be there in the first place? Jun was born in China, and lived with his parents in the city of Guangzhou in 1960. His father was a farmer, who worked on a nearby farm, while his mother was a professor of English Language and Literature, Law Science, and International Politics at Sun Yat-Sen University. The living conditions in Guangzhou at the time were not good, as in 1949, China had become Communist under the rule of Mao Zedong.
Long's parents worked really hard in order to provide for their son, and prepare for immigrating to America for a better life, though due to his mother's career as a teacher (which was rare for her, especially at a great college that had English as a course), life in Guangzhou wasn't so bad. They used some money to send him to a Kung Fu training school in 1965 called the Shaolin Temple where he trained hard and became a great Kung Fu master.
Meanwhile in America, immigration reform was going through big changes, as the American President signed an order that allowed Asians to move there. This was great news for Long and his family, as America stared seeing Asians from China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, Cambodia, and India come in high numbers.
One day Long's mother asked him a question that would change his life forever.

"Son, when we move to America, did you ever think of what kind of career you want there?" Long for several minutes sat in thought. Despite his great physical skills, He needed a way to use them, as well as knowledge of how the American justice system worked.
Then it suddenly came to him. "I want to be a police officer when we move there. I want to help people and keep them safe." His mother smiled.
