In the faraway land of Dragonale, there was a little boy that grew up hearing tales of dragons living in the nearby sea. He did not think much of these tales, until eventually he believed in them. He adored dragons so much, his wish was to become a fisherman, hoping to catch a glimpse of one.

His mother once told him a tale that if someone could bring a flight of sea dragons to the King of Dragonale, the king would give that person half of what he owned! As he was still a young boy he wanted to fulfill this vow and he promised himself that he must find the dragons no matter the hardship it would take.

The little boy, now a fisherman knew that it was nearly impossible to take a sea dragon to the king, because there was only one breed that could breathe on land. Not only would it be difficult to reach, as that breed of dragon lived at the deep side of the ocean, they were also very deadly so he could die in the process. Nonetheless, he decided to go.

As time went by, the boy became a fisherman. He was quite an ordinary one as no-one in his village knew his name. Only his mother and friends would call him by his name, Sirius. One day, he decided to start packing to go on the adventure. When he was doing so, Sirius was talking to his mother about his plans to go find the sea dragon. However, little did they know that there was a little scoundrel named Viggo outside their window listening. While the plans were being laid out by Sirius, Viggo also had an atrocious plan. He was going to kidnap him for money!

. . .
. . .
Sirius didn’t know such a heinous plan was going to take place. However, he packed everything he would need on an adventure; a bag of gold, silver and copper coins, a satchel full of food, a large vial of poison, a bunch of sleeping darts, weapons, bandages and disguises. He was ready.

He took a beige colored horse, Chestnut, from his barn and set off. After a while, he was on a deserted road on the boarders of Dragonale. Suddenly, a man dressed in black, Viggo jumped out from a bush, tied him up, and dragged him away. Sirius was scared to his wits end, he was shouting loudly!

Unfortunately, no one could hear him. Viggo had gagged him. He said to him in a loud menacing whisper “Stop screaming you imbicele. Don’t even make a sound, or I’ll personally feed you to my wolves!” Nearby, a Sand Wing, which was a large dragon with pure gold scales and a poisonous tail saw the entire scene and decided to help the fisherman. It flew over and saw that the fisherman was being held in a small prison being tortured during the night. The Sandwing who had no name barged in and broke the prison cell, and they flew away in to the starry night sky.

Sirius woke up in a magnificant palace made of sand that shimmered like gold. He slightly opened his eyes as if the morning sun was shining brightly. As he did so, he heard strange noises coming from afar. He stumbled and to this right side, he saw the dragon that saved his life.
Sirius looked over and instantly the Sand wing also locked eyes with him. At that moment, he knew that the dragon had a special bond with him. He heard a quiet voice in his head, “Don’t move so quickly, you have a mild concussion.” Sirius knew it wasn’t him that was thinking this. He heard it again, “Yes, I’m talking to you. Don’t move so fast!”. At that moment, he knew the voice was coming from the dragon!

Sirius kept questioning himself. How was it possible that a dragon was talking to him? Not only that, but it was doing it without opening it’s mouth! After careful thinking, he had remembered that there was an old tale, that if a dragon had saved an individual, the dragon could communicate in different ways. Sirius thought to himself “Could that tale be real after all?”
The dragon still gazing at Sirius, now had a stern look on it’s face. “I’m talking to you. Please don’t move so quickly!” Then Sirius asked a question, “Are… Are you talking to me?” The dragon replied, “Of course. Who else would I be talking to?” At that moment, Sirius knew their special bond was more than just a feeling. They could communicate with each other telepathically.

The dragon told him that he had a special gift, that it had created a magical pair of wings that allowed him to fly whenever and wherever he wanted to. Sirius thanked the dragon for the gift and named the dragon, Salvatorem Aureum, which meant Golden Savior in Latin.
Sirius accepted the present and went to retrieve it. When he saw it, his jaw dropped as it was the most mesmerizing thing that he had ever seen, “It’s…… amazing!” He was lost for words, trying to find the right words was impossible. It was so majestic, something priceless that could never be bought! He immediatley put it on then tried to fly.
It was difficult to control at first. Sirius kept wobbling side to side. But just the thought of being able to fly was overwhelming for him. Then he started to get the hang of it he zoomed and shot through the air screaming with joy, soon it was getting dark and he returned back to the shimmering palace, little did he know something or someone was watching him…
Sirius woke up to the ear splitting sound of flapping wings. A sound that he had never heard before, but he knew something wasn’t right. He then opened his eyes and saw the sandwings preparing to leave the palace. Still dazed, he felt confused as all the sandwings seemed in a rush. He saw his dragon friend outside with the other sandwings, They were all preparing to leave. Sirius saw the dragon and ran over to it. He immediately asked, “What’s happening here? Why is everyone leaving? Are you leaving?” Salvatorem Aureum answered, “We are preparing to leave the palace because it is too old and it is going to crumble at any moment.”
Salvatorem Aureum looked a bit disappointed as it felt that if Sirius was left behind, he would be put in danger. However, the dragons felt that if Sirius traveled with them, he would be a liability as they would have to find different food for Sirius to eat.
Sirius immediately remembered the wings he was given and put them. Not only were they still shimmering like gold he also noticed that they seemed a little larger than before. He remembered that to use the wings, he must focus and concentrate on where his final destination will be. But he failed!

He was starting to get worried and then he showed them to Salvatoruem Aureum. Salvatoreum Aureum inspected them closely for quite a long while. Sirius was astonished when Salvatoreum Aureum shouted and let out so many emotions he had ever seen at the same time; fright, anger and disappointment. In the dragon’s head, it was thinking ‘these are not the pair of wings I had made!’ He remarked again, “Someone must have stole them and replaced them with a decoy!” The dragon sighed with disappointment, “Why did you not take better care of the pair of wings?”
Argh!
Sirius was speechless, he could not find the right words to answer this question. He was so mad at himself that he screamed and shouted. Still, no matter how much he screamed and shouted at himself, he could not change anything. It was already too late.

Salvatoreum Aureum howled to the rest of the dragons, “There is a theif among us!” Sirius asked Salvatoreum Aureum, “How do you know that the theif is still close by?” Salvatoreum Aureum wordlessly answered his questions by simply pointing at trail of sparkly gold fresh footprints on the sandy floor. Sirius immediately understood that the footprints belonged to the thief. They seemed fresh, so the thief had to be close by. Salvatoreum Aureum roared to the flight of thundering sandwings, “We must follow the footprints to find the thief!” The sandwings gathered in a single file and crept forwards in order to follow the footprints.

Soon, they reached the end of the footprint trail. It led to a gigantic and thorny bramble bush. Suddenly, Viggo jumped out and flew in with an evil look on his face. He pointed a dagger to Sirius’ neck and he screamed to the crowd of sandwings, “I will destroy him if you don’t give me the special pair of wings along with one of your dragons!” Sirius, being the hero he was, he begged the dragons not to sacrifice one of their dragons for him because he secretly had a plan.

After a short scuffle, Sirius was kidnapped again by Viggo. To make sure Sirius could not be saved this time, Viggo had to think of a way to deter the dragons from entering and helping. So, this time Sirius was placed in a cage with thick bars and very little room for him to move around. The bars at the bottom of the cage were thin and sharp, making him scrape his legs and feet, resulting in cuts and bruises. Still he did not care as he thought the dragons would come to his rescue.

A few minutes had passed. Then suddenly, something strange happened. Sirius felt his chest expand as though something was growing inside of him. He withered with pain. It was at this point that he remembered a story that his mother had told him when he was younger. When the dragon guardian was in trouble, and the dragons could not reach him, five hearts will grow within him. This story seemed so far fetched when Sirius heard the story as he knew humans all only had one heart. But not for Sirius!

The hearts were not any old heart. Not the ones found in humans nor animals. It was the hearts from the dragons. First, there was the sand wing heart. This could give him the power to fly. Not only that, but Sirius would also not need to eat and drink for an entire year and have unlimited poison. Next, there was the sea wing heart. This allowed him to breath under water without the need to come up for air. He would also be able to glide through the water with ease. As the ocean has vast amount of sea animals, this heart also allowed him to camouflage like a leafy seadragon!
Then, there was the flame wing heart. This allowed him to spit fire and be able to control it. As Sirius had never been in contact with fire, he had the possibility of getting hurt. But with this heart, it also protected him from getting burnt. There was also the plant wing heart. This gave him the power of controlling plants that were grown in the wild. He could use this power to set up poisonous plants to stop the enemy in their tracks.
Finally, there was the sky wing heart. This heart produced the most powerful ability of them all. It let him have all of the elemental powers in the entire world. It was at this moment, he realised it was all those hearts that made his chest grow and bulge out. Sirius flexed his muscles and let the powers flow through his finger tips. He aimed them at Viggo and Viggo collapsed.
Now, Sirius took control of his powers and he knew what had to be done. He tried to communicate with the dragons using his telepathic skills as before but to no avail. Sirius had to think of another plan quickly before Viggo woke up, or else he would be in big trouble. He knew that with the hearts, he had more power than he ever could have imagine!
He decided to think of a quick plan. Sirius used vines and moss to make a carriage. But he needed something to pull him.
What can I use to pull it?

After finishing up his carriage, Sirius admired his work. The vines started to sparkle in the sun, as though they were carved from emerald. The moss looked as soft as the clouds in the sky. Sirius knew he had created something magical.
Next, Sirius was thinking about a breed of animal that would help him move this carriage. It had to be able to be trained easily and quickly and also big enough pull and tug on the carriage. However, it should not too big as it would be a problem for Sirius to direct and steer to the location he wanted to go. He needed to think quickly as he saw that Viggo was already heaving himself from the ground. Time was of the essence! Thousands of thoughts started running in Sirius’ mind, about the animals, about the problems that might come and most importantly, returning to the dragons! But he persevered and thought of the perfect animal, a Pegasus.
I've thought of it!
So, Sirius tried to summon the Pegasus using a magical spell, “Pegasus come to your lord, to your oath be true, come to meet your friend, work with me till your end! Fly over hills of green, come to me without being seen. No matter how far you flew, to your oath be true!”, then after a moment, a large black cloud started to appear in the distance. Sirius was worried that he used the wrong spell as he had not been told about such things happening after chanting the spell. The cloud came closer. He started sweating and negative thoughts drowned his mind. The cloud was now above him.
Then suddenly, the cloud split into two, sending wisps of smoke everywhere. A horse like figure started to appear in the fog. As it crept closer and closer to Sirius, he realised that his spell had worked and the animal he longed for had arrived. Sirius named the Pegasus, Kabayo, which meant flying horse. Sirius told Kabayo to take him to the crowd of sand wings that were still in front of the crumbling sand palace. Sirius had to immediately return to them to let them know he was safe!
When Sirius and Kabayo arrived at the palace, they saw something they would never have imagined. There, on the ground, Sirius saw something that made him speechless. The sand wings had created a model of Sirius that was made of mud. It was partly submerged in the endless sandy ground. Something that resembled a coffin could also be seen in the distance, shimmering like it was made of gold. Sirius knew something was not right, “What is happening?”
He could hear sounds that were alien to him, sounds that he had never heard before. He realised they were coming from the dragons. The dragons were moaning in grief and weeping tears of sadness for him. Suddenly, Sirius saw a sand wing, his friend Salvatorem Auremn preparing a speech for him. Then, at that very moment, Sirius finally realised that the sand wings thought that he was dead.

We will miss you.
Four identical sand wings went towards Salvatorem Auremn. They breathed fire towards the sky in unison and Sirius realized the speech was about to begin.
The feeling of sadness dawned upon them all. It was a day they wished would never happen. There was a feeling in the atmosphere that could be felt throughout the group. However, they each knew what had to be done.
“Dear sand wings, we gather here today to mourn for our friend, Sirius. A pure hearted person who sacrificed himself for us. He was kind, brave and most importantly, he was one of us.” The sand wings bowed their heads. “The heavenly god Osiris we beg you, give Sirius a safe passage through the Underworld, give new life and love and bring him to us so that we may know that he is safe.” They chanted.
At this point, emotions were overflowing for Sirius. Sadness, because the sand wings had thought he was dead. Anger was slowly felt because of what Viggo had done. The feeling of joy that he would soon be reunited with the sand wings. Fear, for that Viggo would come back to really kill him and also hope. Hope that with his new powers he would be able to keep himself safe.
Sirius had a dilemma on his hands. He was struggling to decide whether to face the sand wings and show that he was alive or whether he should give the sand wings time to recover and then face the sand wings when they were ready. Then he had remembered what his mother once told him, “… to never to hide from your friends no matter what situation you’re in!” So, within a split second Sirius jumped out of from behind a gigantic sand dune.

When Sirius appeared, the sand wings immediately seemed dumbfounded. Was it really Sirius? Was it a mirage? How was this possible? But joy overcame these questions and soon the sand wings flew over to him and hugged Sirius. The sand wings knew what had to be done. They celebrated his return with a huge feast. When Sirius told the dragons about his new power, they rejoiced. Sirius then transformed into a sand wing and they chatted and laughed as they were searching for a new place to call home.
The group had been flying in the sky for a while, and suddenly Sirius saw a big and white cloud that looked like a bed. Salvatorem Auremn had an idea “We should take a rest here before we continue on our journey. Who knows, we could be flying for days!” Everyone except for Sirius agreed, “What’s your deal?” Salvatorem Auremn said, “This is the most beautiful part of the sky we have seen! How can we turn this opportunity down?”
