Snakes don't go through a lot stages of a life cycle. But the stages they do go through are, first, snakes hatch from their eggs. Then they become an adult snake in only less than a year. It takes then one to three years to reach breeding size. Then, the life cycle starts over again. A snakes life cycle isn't crazy at all, unlike any other animals that have 10 steps to becoming an adult. Snakes are just normal.

FUN FACTS ABOUT SNAKES!!
~ Snakes don't have eye lids, so they sleep with their eyes open.
~ Snakes stick out their tongue because that's the only way they can smell.
~ Snakes can live up to 170 years, out living everyone on this planet.
~ Their scales help them breathe underwater like a fish's gills

This snake is sleeping!
How much pet snakes grow really depends on the gender, what you feed them, and sometimes how big the tank is that you're keeping them in. The corn snake, king snakes, and garter snakes usually reach up to 3-6 feet as an adult. The largest snake in the world, reaching 48 feet, is the reticulated python found in 1912. And the smallest snake in the world is a barbados threadsnake, they get as big as 4.1 inches! Some snakes are typical, and some are diminutive, just pick what size you would like better!

Can you guess which one is the Barbados threadsnake and the reticulated python!?

Snake bites are something you may have to worry about when taking a hike, swimming in a lake, or almost anywhere outdoors. If you get bit by venomous snake, here is how you can treat it. Sit in a comfortable position, make sure any jewelry is off before the swelling starts or it could get stuck. Wash the wound with only soap and water. Cover the bite with something dry, a large band-aid, paper towel, maybe even a gauze. And NEVER suck the venom out like in shows, or movies. But hopefully no one will get caught in this painful situation.
Did you know there are 3,000 snake species?
There are NO snakes in Antarctica, Iceland, Greenland, Ireland, and New Zealand.
Snakes jaws are not fixed to their skull, the jaw is connected loosely to the skull by ligaments.

DID YOU KNOW?!
Baby snakes and adult snakes are similar but not completely the same. Baby snakes eat only small things they can swallow, like, tiny mice, tiny rats, insects, small amphibians, anything smaller than the snake. While adult snakes eat, mostly warm-blooded prey like, any rodents, rabbits, birds, etc. Or larger insects, amphibians, eggs. Almost anything. And another difference is how big the adult snake is while the baby snake is small. Baby snakes and adult snakes can be very similar but they aren't exactly the same.
