INtroduction
WWI
Part 1
Now yes, World War 1 was the smaller of the two world wars by 2 years, but that did not stop it from large casualties with everyday life...

Cause of the war
The reason is farely simple, it was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
Though there is more to the story, which I will explain later, the reason he was so important to Austria-Hungary where he is from is because he was the heir to the throne and was likely to get it.

Now on to the rest of the story, after Gavrilo Princip from Serbia assassinated Archduke, Austria was furious! When they attacked, they had two allies, Germany and Italy.
With more countries on their side, Serbia got allies as well. The allies are Russia, France, Belgium, Montenegro, Britain, Canada, and Australia. Later, after 2 and a half years after the war started, the U.S. joined the war.

Being smaller than WWII, there were not as many deaths, but the numbers were large. 20 million people died during the war and 21 million were injured in total 41 million or more were
hurt or killed during the war.

The war was quite long though World War 2 was larger than World War 1, World War 1 lasted 4 years which is a long time, one of the battles lasted about 300 days! The name of the battle is called The Battle Of Verdun.
