Hello,
My name is Carbla. I am going to tell you
what I eat during the day so I can stay
energized. For breakfast, I have cereal, which
is a carbohydrate, to help wake me up and
give me energy. I put strawberries and
blueberries on top to start my day with
monosaccharides, or the simplest kind of
sugar. I add milk which is a disaccharide (2
linked sugar molecules). After I finish my
cereal I eat a pear to get my polysaccharides
in, or a series of connected monosaccharides.
Pears have cellulose in them which gives it
the hard textures on the outside making it
strong.

Unsaturated Fat
Saturated Fat
Hello,
My name is Lipida. I eat foods that are have
fat in them so I can store energy to use later
on. For lunch, my dad cooks my food in
coconut oil, which is a fatty acid. Glycerol is
the basis of all fats. My dad said fatty acids are
the building blocks of the fat in our bodies.
Coconut oil has a high amount of saturated
fat, or fats with no double bonds. He cooks
salmon in the coconut oil. Salmon gives me a
large amount of unsaturated fat, which is
healthier and has double bonds. I do not get
cookies very much because they are high in
trans fats, which are bad, but I got one today!

Proteins!

Hello,
My name is ProteiNathan. For dinner I had lentils and
chicken to give me protein. Protein builds, maintains,
and replaces the tissues my your body. When my
stomach digests the protein it breaks it down into
amino acids, also called monomers. Amino acids are
monomers that make polymers which make up
proteins. The protein from the chicken and lentils will
allow things to transport across my cell membranes,
structure enzymes, and regulate hormone production.

Hello,
My name is NickleicAcid. I have the building
blocks of life within me: Nucleic acids! DNA is a
type of nucleic acid that stores all of the genetic
information that is in my cells. My DNA passes
my genetic instructions to RNA to allow my
metabolic or energy creating activities to know
what to do. DNA is made up of four different
types of nucleotides, or the pattern of the DNA.
Nucleic acids are very important to living
organisms!

Hello,
My name is Vitamindy. I make sure I get in enough
vitamins and minerals throughout the day so I can
boost my immune system, support normal growth and
development, and help cells and organs do their jobs.
Vitamins are organic molecules, meaning they come
from plants or animals. My friend Mineral Mike makes
sure he gets enough vitamins and minerals so he can
also be healthy. We both eat lots of fruits and
vegetables to stay healthy. Vitamins A,C,D,E, B12, B6,
B1, B3, B2, and Folate are very important to our
health. Some macrominerals needed everyday are
sodium, chloride, calcium, and phosphorus. Minerals
are inorganic molecules andcome from the soil and
water.Along with vitamins and minerals, we drink 8
cups of water everyday to stay hydrated.
